And lol @ the official language threads being moved to School. No wonder I don't see them anymore.

I might actually be wrong about that, in fairness. That's just where I think they are.

- You must put the language you're speaking in at the end of your post. So the mods don't get too ticked off and all.
By the way mods, I don't know how many of you noticed, but I already took a nice "compromise" by adding in that rule. It's like a freakin' yellow star. Anyway, if you can't understand a language, just look at the bottom of each post and hit it up on a translator. Even if it's rough, you should be able to get an idea.

lol man, it's really not. I was just saying, it's a shame that I haven't seen them recently, being active on their own. I can't be responsible for all of the activity on cB all the time, now can I. aniwink.gif

Yes, because that really is how I like to spend my time.

If the topics can't even survive on their own, there is really no need for a foreign language subforum, or a day, etc etc

Hey, just sayin', in case you guys want to know what's being said. I mean if you don't want to bother, more p-p-p-power to ya. But just 'cause you don't want to bother is no excuse for why we can't post in foreign languages.

Deal. The topics seem to be holding their own at the moment though. But yes, just let them naturally fall down the page if cB wills it.

Give it two days and you're not going to want to bother either.

There was still no need for a million of them last night.

Nothing's relevent to cb world language day is being discussed backstage?
QUOTE(kreios @ Aug 8 2008, 01:19 PM) *
Well the solutions to the posting in foreign languages has been posted backstage

Here we have:
- A foreign language subfourm (which really isn't that applicable)
- A foreign language topic
- One day where people can post in foreign languages (August 8th)

So, do you have anything helpful to add to this?
lol, told you so

First, let's go on with cB World Language Day. Then we can talk about what to do with foreign languages for the rest of the year afterwards.

Foreign Language Day is stupid and therefore if we must have it, I thoroughly object to having it be on my birthday.

Also, it makes very little sense to have it be one day, as then we'd have to go through and close all those topics or else they could just continue on afterward.

Ha ha, I honestly didn't know it was going to end up on your birthday. And BOO at you calling Foreign Language Day stupid! >:O

Part of the purpose of Foreign Language Day is to spark interest in foreign languages and other cultures. If you've been reading my topics (but I guess you haven't since y'all are too lazy to use translators) a lot of them are about foreign culture or cool things I found from foreign places. cB World Language Day is also a challenge to not use English for a whole day (and good job you guys, you made me break my own rule). I personally won't be posting in as much foreign languages after cB World Language Day. More power to the people who want to keep posting in foreign languages, though. 'Cause I still don't see a rule saying they can't.

Oh, and don't even think about closing the topics, because as far as my topics go, they're all legit.

Things I Can Do:
1. close your topics
2. make a rule against foreign languages
3. call World Language Day stupid

Wow. Come on guys. Can we at least be civil?

Arjuna, you can have the day. Tomorrow the threads will be closed, moved to their respective "clubs" or merged into one Celebratory Thread. If any staff member disagrees with this, please respond.

A lot of this could have been avoided if it was communicated beforehand. I don't see why everything has to be such a heated debate. I think just about EVERYONE needs to take a friggin chill pill.

Come on! Olympics have started. Let's all try to be friendly! (Ok, I know that's over the top... but yay friendly? sad.gif ) lol

Why? They're legit topics, and there's still no rule to be seen against foreign languages.

Now that I'm off the staff team, I shouldn't have to wait for all the mods' approval before I can act and go ahead and initiate a celebration.

lol I'm willing to compromise but you're going to have to compromise with me.

There was a rule about posting in English predominately, but that went away when your dear friend Suzzette jackhammered the forums. I honestly don't remember exactly what it said.

lol, the thing is, I shouldn't have to compromise, because there was no rule on foreign languages to speak of at the time, deleted or not.

Plus, I already compromised somewhat by telling everyone to write the language they're typing in at the bottom of their posts so you guys can translate if you want.

I feel that I should point out that you didn't even start the posting in other languages, Sally did.

How about all topics must be started in English?
