I thought the 5th one was alright... I thought Imelda Staunton did an AMAZING job as Dolores Umbridge. But yeah, the part with Sirius wasn't half as good as I imagined it would be. =(

It was WAY too short, many things were left out(or acted out the wrong way), and the way they Sirius died didn't satisfy me or my friends at all. In the movie he fricking FLUTTERED into the vail. LIKE A BIRD. WTF! It's supposed to be a dramatic moment and it was so anti-climactic. The way Harry & Cho got to kissing wasn't even true to the book! Same with the whole Umbridge detention scene. Wasn't Harry the only one who got the skin tearing pen punishment in the book?

They had better get things right with these last 3 movies or I'll mentally slap them across the back of their heads.

I completely agree about Sirius' death... but you can't totally blame the directors or screenplay writers or whatever for the shortening and changes. I mean, the book was pretty huge so the movie HAD to cut some stuff out. And in having cut some things out, some of the little facts were changed. It's not like they were totally significant to the overall story anyway. =\

Buuuut yeah... it would've been THAT much better if they stuck to exactly how the book was written.

I understand why they cut things down & out but I feel they could have added in more if the movie was longer. I'm just a detail whore when it comes to book-to-movie translations. laugh.gif

I'm actually re-reading the book so I can compare the book to the movie when it comes out. XD

Gah I FREAKING AGREE with the 5th movie sucking. The 5th one was MY FAVORITE ONE along with the last one because of the FIGHT SCENES. COME ON, the 5th one is where they all kick ass and I wanted to see more!

Is it the general consensus that the 5th movie sucked? Because I really thought it was a great movie. Just as a movie, by itself, it was pretty freakin' good. Maybe something was lost in the translation (err...lost in the book-to-movie interpretation?), but as a movie it was awesome. I've asked people who aren't HP fanatics which movies they preferred, and most of them picked the 5th one. shrug.gif I don't think you can ever satisfy everybody.

Plus, there was no possible way they could've put every detail into the movie. The 5th book is the longest out of all the HP books, the details endless...you would literally have an 8 hour movie on your hands, maybe even longer. It's simply not realistic to cram everything into a movie just for the sake of being detailed. I always go into it thinking that I'm going to judge this new HP movie as a film, not as a comparison to the book. It's not realistic to compare.

But seriously, they could have put more fighting into this thing. Honestly, in their world it's a flipping fight for the death, not some kids that are just having a jolly good time.

When I watched the movie, it certainly didn't look like they were having a "jolly good time". Watching it from a movie perspective, the action scenes were pretty well spaced out...and I think, relative to the entire movie, the length was about right. I think maybe because you can get so caught up in the actual novel, and as fanatics we know that the fight scene was the most important part of the book, that you feel like the scene wasn't detailed enough? It would be lopsided to have a movie focus most of its plot on a fight scene when there are plenty more details that need to be included.

Although, this could be because I watched it in IMAX 3D and the fight scene was that much more awesome, maybe I overlooked the shallowness of it.

Well, now that I think of it, the movie didn't suck. It was a good movie but compared to how detailed the book was, they left out a lot of significant parts from the book. But I thought they did an excellent job with the whole Voldemort in Harrys head towards the end of the movie.

Also, it looks really creative by the looks of the trailer. I liked when Harry put his head in the pensieve (sp?) thumbsup.gif I can't wait!

I finished re-reading the 5th book a day before I went to go see the movie and the movie altered some parts and definitely missed things. But I agree, it was rather good for what it turned out to be. Despite the fighting thing/Sirius' death. That they could have improved, in my opinion. They definitely couldn't have put every single thing in it. But they should. shifty.gif
