That doesn't make it better music. If Duran Duran is the best thing on someone's list, that's an issue.

Rio is a classic song. You hush, snob face.

I dunno. I always find it hard to list any kind of Top 20 of anything, but these are the twenty artists I think I've listened to most over the last month or so, in alphabetica order, for want of better

Ryan Adams
Adele
Brendan Canning
Sheryl Crow
The Dodos
Thea Gilmore
Girls Aloud
Hayden
John Mayer
Marissa Nadler
Ruth Notman
Okkervil River
The Pernice Brothers
Liz Phair
Angel Snow
Third Eye Blind
Tilly And The Wall
Laura Viers
We Are Scientists
Rachael Yamagata

I don't do specific albums, really.

Haha, well whoever started this sure was making an issue by trying to force his tastes in music upon other people, but hey, I'm going to give you props for doing a pretty good job on keeping the ball going 8 months after its death. ^_~

And I'm not saying its BETTER, than anyone elses taste in music (unless you listen to Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, or High School Musical) I believe that music is whatever you make it out to be, and your music can be whatever you want it to be. (as long as you aren't Miley Cyrus.)

I would like to call for the closing of this thread so that we can (for a time) not have to deal with the irrational missuse of forum space.

For the love of god, no one forced you to post in here. Obviously, if you post a list to be judged, you cannot get upset when someone judges your taste.

Hey, I didn't even insult Duran Duran! Saying that they should not be the best band on someone's list is not the same as saying they don't belong on a list at all.

This list is much better than what I usually get the impression that you listen to. I am questioning the Girls Aloud, am too lazy to look up a couple of them, and I f**king hate John Mayer. So I think this is one of those things where you're lucky that you're my friend, but I don't think that I can in good conscience allow you to assume the label of Musical Elitist just the same.

Most of the time I found these groups without even turning on the radio.

Most of us have to turn something on to find the artists we enjoy... even if that just means turning on your f**king brain. In either case, the fact that you can just "run into" these "groups" highlights the sort of effortless concession you've given to radio-rock. The reason these bands are so easy to come across is because of the fact that they're f**king everywhere (not just on the radio). And, if you happen to borrow one of your friend's radio-rock-records... augh, nevermind.

Girls Aloud are fantastic, and anyone could have seen your hatred of John Mayer coming from miles away. Lol, I'm the absolute opposite of a music elitist anyway, and happy to say it.

That's because John Mayer sucks immensely. And your lack of elitism is apparent, buuuuuuuuut look at the topic title.

PS I saw Hayden open for Feist and he was boring as hell.

Brandon, your jazz is kind of standard, and there's no a whole lot of variation in the hip-hop (4 Common albums, etc), but only a fool would deny that you have taste.

Why, thank you.

And Juna, there isn't any Nujabes on that list because it was just a compilation of my favorite albums. Over the years, the above listed have been a standard. I can name off some others that are near and dear to my ear (I can't believe I just said that. What am I? My choir director from middle school? *smh).
