Found a site on the internet--http://www.picnik.com/
Picnik makes your photos fabulous with easy to use yet powerful editing tools. Tweak to your heart’s content, then get creative with oodles of effects, fonts, shapes, and frames. It's fast, easy, and fun. For photoshop and paint shop pro users, is it a good thing or a bad thing? You really had a hard time studying and learning the techniques for editing programs like photoshop and paint shop pro that you need tutorials to do it (i'd like to thank createblog for this one. So there, I'd like to know your opinion about this site and I'd like to know if it really is a good or bad thing for photoshop and paint shop pro users. i do not think that this program is bad, because it gives those who do not understand how to use photoshop of paintshop pro a way to edit their photos without much confusion. although i prefer photoshop, picnic is a lot cheaper and easier to use from what i read/saw on the site.

It's a neither. A non-issue. There will always be things on the internet that can provide similar effects as professional programs, and I stress the word "similar". Actually, I should say "limited". Photoshop is SO MUCH MORE than some filters, fonts, shapes, etc...there is an absolutely unlimited amount of stuff you can do with it. Unlimited. It's a professional-level program that you just can't duplicate. I mean, I'd like to see Picnik have a pen tool.
Anyway, Picnik is aimed towards people who like to edit their photos, while Photoshop can be used to edit photos and create art. Picnik will never reach its level, but if it does, Photoshop and any equivalent programs will be improved also. I do like the Facebook application for it, though, and I think it's a great way for people that can't afford Photoshop to go ahead and edit their photos. Although there are plenty of photo-editing freeware out to download nowadays so Picnik isn't entirely necessary. |

It's very basic. Mostly font, image fine tuning, and shapes. Things that most designers don't get Photoshop for. It's a nifty tool for those who don't have Photoshop or don't know how to use it. I'll take my Photoshop over any of those "photo editing" programs anyday.

Ehh, there's quite a few sites that can do that. Nothing can compare to the things Photoshop can do IMO.

I think its great. Anytime you have another program you can integrate with photoshop, you become that more powerful.

i think this site is good for those people who will probably never learn how to use photoshop or paint shop. i have friends that are always frustrated using photoshop [impatient] so this would probably be good for them.
but me, i always like seeing the result of something i put together. it just makes me happy to say, "wow, i made this, it looks great" |

Actually, photoshop has released an online version of their software already - it's in beta testing.

Yeah! I think that is awesome! I am using it. It is a free (unless you upgrade), easy "photoshop" to use. No more spending money on photoshop when you have this. |

Photoshop all the way.
All this program does is change the tones of an image and add text .. though it does sound pretty helpful for graphic nubs. :P |

I might actually have a little bit of a different stance on this... Although I'm 100% sure that photoshop is 1000x better than any web based image editor, having web based editors may give the photoshop failures a reason to believe they got what it takes to become a great designer... which is a little frustrating. I mean, I've seen people out there who think they're so awesome because they made some sort of graphic with online help. This is a but frustrating to me because I've been a designer for a couple of years now and it took me a long time to get where I am today with my skills. I'm still not AWESOME at what I do but a least I got there on my own where as some else can just come along and claim that they're an amazing designer through sites like these... I know I'm not the only one who sucked at designing when I first started, so why shouldn't other noobs too.
At least there may be a drop in the # of jockers I get... maybe those nubs can figure out how to use those sites too... |

It really doesn't matter, I'll sill use photoshop because it's fairly easy to use.
There's a similar website like this though, it's http://a.viary.com/ |
