QUOTE
A 25-year-old woman in New York City is suing the designer of an anti-Barack Obama t-shirt after she was assaulted while wearing one of his controversial t-shirts.

The woman, who has not been identified, purchased a shirt with the words “Obama is My Slave” shirt for $69. While wearing the shirt this past Tuesday, she was assaulted by four girls, who pushed her down, pulled out her earphones, and spit in her face according to the New York Metro News.

Apollo Braun—the Israeli born designer who made the shirt—is now saying the victim of the attack is trying to sue him for “all he’s got.”

Braun claims that his designs reflect the views of “ordinary WASPs (White Anglo Saxon Protestants).”

“For a lot of people, when they see Obama, they see a slave. People think America is not ready for a black president,” Braun told Metro.

In addition to the “Obama Is My Slave” tee, Braun has also designed shirts with the following slogans: “Jews Against Obama,” “Obama=Hitler,” and “Who Killed Obama?”

The latter shirt, Braun says, is the most popular.

Braun says the only thing he likes about Obama is that he’s black because his ethnicity “opens the door for minorities.” He also says he doesn’t like Obama because “he is a Muslim” and “he reminds me of Adolf Hitler.”

The Muslim rumor has already been debunked.

this is so ridiculous to me. how are you gonna sue someone cause you bought a shirt knowing it was intended to be offensive, and chose to wear it down the streets of ny? i think if you're a grown woman and wearing stupid shit like this down the street then it's your own problem if you get assaulted.

what a dumb hooker. not only did she overpay for a stupid shirt but she also got "assaulted". she's lucky she only got spit on and pushed down, i know people who have done much worse for much less offensive things.

Moved to News.

She didn't even need to get beat up to look like an idiot. Paying $69 for a shirt she probably could've made herself already did that for her.

I don't get why y'all move stuff to news or debate or whatever. No one really goes to these "discussion" or "academia" forums, and moving a thread there is pretty close to killing it.

Seriously though, if it invokes discussion, and isn't really causing a flood of threads that get in the way of other stuff, why remove it from the lounge?

See? No one says anything now that it's in news. People saw the link from the lounge, and now this thread is dead.

I guess the reason that it was moved, aside from it being news, was because they have to keep everything organized in the forums?

On a side note, the designer should have his ass kicked as well.

I can understand what you are saying with that point, as this thread did somewhat die after it was moved, but then again their are procedures ya know?! I'll see if I can get it moved back for you?

Oh I personally don't care, I'm just pointing out that moving a thread to the news forum is practically a death sentence for it. The news forum receives such little attention that it doesn't even warrant a separate forum of it's own.

I have no sympathy for people who design such offensive piece of garment and people who buy it . The woman clearly knew what she was getting into when she wore such a shirt .

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Its her own fault for buying the shirt. _dry.gif And as much as I hate those kind of shirts--they're always gonna be there no matter what. Just leave it to those kinda people to buy them.
