I haven't read anything from the English-Romantic era... e.g. Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Jude the Obscure... I'd like to think myself well-rounded in the lit department, but I'm missing this chunk. It really bugs me...

I felt bad for not reading 1984, but I started reading it yesterday. I'm almost done with it. I also really want to read Ayn Rand books, such as Atlas Shrugged and We The Living. I have essays by her as well as her novel, The Fountainhead.

Wow.. I work in the library during 2nd period.. so my list has grown to.. pretty much every book in the library.
I have a habit of reading the first half and last chapter of books. I wish I had the time and patience to read the full books. |

I'm going to add The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai and The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri to my list. The latter book is apparently more enjoyable than the movie.
I hope I can cross these and others off my list soon because it's just starting to build up. ![]() |

-Book 11-13 of Lemony Snicket's -A Short History of Almost Everything -Death of a Salesman (I liked The Crucible, so I expect this one to be great as well) -Pride and Prejudice -The Catcher in the Rye -Tuesdays with Morrie -Lord of the Flies -The Bell Jar (Sylvia Plath is awesome.) The Bell Jar is fantastic and if I lived next door to you I would throw rock at your window until you open it and then throw the book at you. Read it. I've skated around most of the classic English assignment books. Never read Catcher in the Rye Tale of Two Cities Jane Eyre Scarlett Letter One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest (read Bell Jar instead) The Color Purple (read Ordinary People instead) I chose to read 1984 on my own |

I never read it. Used sparknotes...and still got an A. I feel guilty.. |

Well, up until a few weeks ago I'd never read Lord of the Flies, and I've always wanted to read To Kill a Mocking but have never got round to it.
I also want to read Animal Farm, since I've never read any Geroge Orwell *hangs head in shame*. ![]() |

One post isn't enough to list them all, but here are a few.
Catch-22 The Da Vinci Code Catcher in the Rye The Scarlet Letter Great Expectations Jane Eyre A Tale of Two Cities (but I did watch the movie; it was really sad) Oliver Twist Frankenstien The Giver QUOTE Scott Westerfeld's Uglies trilogy. There're actually four books now - "Extras" is the latest. I read the first one, and it was really good, but I just couldn't bring myself to read the second one. I checked it out from the library and all, but it just sat there collecting dust under my bed before I had to return it. |

I read The Giver in grade 6, and I really didn't think much of it at the time. I was so immature and giggled every time they said someone was 'stirring' in their sleep. Looking back, it was actually a fantastic book.

Looking back, it was actually a fantastic book. I read the kind-of sequel to it, Gathering Blue, and it was my absolute favorite book for a while. I don't know why I never got around to reading The Giver. I should :x |

I remember feeling like I should have read The Da Vinci Code when everyone was raving about it years ago. Now, not so much. I would like to make my way through The Divine Comedy. But I have only read Dante's Inferno. Oh, and, Catcher in the Rye.
