EDIT:i re-did the whole thing and came up with something totally different than the original. i hope people like it and the guy that requested it too! again, please be honest and if you have any suggestions, i'm all ears!

I think it looks decent. The arrangement and fonts are nice. However, I'm not fond of the background at all, and the images of the two guys could use some editting. Maybe give them some more depth or coloring?

Is their name "Infinite Dimensions"? If so, I think you should put the whole name together, 'cause at first I thought it was just "Infinite." Also, maybe you could decrease the line spacing in the navigation, so that it doesn't cover any of the image, or move the image down.

It does look a little plain.

Well, I personally don't think any brushes are needed. The feel that it seems like you're going for needs to be simple and clean. Brushes might make it messy.

I think a solid color or a gradient would look best in the background.

I don't like it. The background pattern doesn't match what you're trying to portray with this. It doesn't match the font, what the people are wearing, the whole "rap group" idea, anything.

Everything about this is dull - the colors are very bland, there's no kick, the guys seem to be just cut out of a picture and that's it.

It's also a bit messy. If their name is "Infinite Dimensions," put it together. Your spacing doesn't work at all.

Overall, it's not very aesthetically appealing.

Because this is a rap group, instead of the floralesque background, I'd try something either grungy, urban, or just plain solid. The font is okay, but I'd work on adjusting it so it makes more sense.

Make the picture of the guys a higher contrast. Add some effects so it's not so flat.

well i got in touch with the group and they wanted it completely different. i just wish they told me this awhile ago or else i wouldn't have made that...lol oh well.

Since you want honestly, I'll be technical and nit picky.

First off, change the background. Victorian style backgrounds are extremely cliche and way over used. They don't even look good anymore. And with the one you choose, the actual print is so bold that it actually looks pixely and ugly. The solid gray border around the image should go, its to plain and it clashes with the vectorish/glossy type look your trying to pull off in the center of the image. At the links, where the little arrow is on the bottom right corner, it has a white box around each of them...make it transparent. It makes it look cheap and that you just took a arrow from some other place and just copied and pasted it over and over instead of making something of your own.

Add something to the guys, it looks like you just took a photo of them, cut it out and slapped it up there. Add some brushes or something really cool that will make them pop.

The circular border around where the content go I think you should lower the transparency of it and see if it looks any better, just kind of test with it and see if it would. I can envision it being a little lighter than the solid color is why I'm saying to test it first.

Lastly, the words Infinite and Dimensions should have the same text effects.


Oh also after reading that this was for a rap group, pick some other fonts. Go to dafont and look around or something. Also if your doing this for a client, have you asked them what they thought yet? I would possibly pick out a few fonts, send them to them and ask them which ones they like the best.

like it doesn't fit together, i don't like the background much either. maybe if everything wasn't limited to one area in the center. and the nav looks like it shouldn't be there, it looks like it'll look better somewhere else.

ok, so i took everyone's advice and came up with something totally different. i know it's not completely finished but this took me a long time to do and i wanted to see what everyone thought of the progress.

again, please be honest and if you have any advice i would really appreciate it.

I like that one better, but I can barely read the font in the nav. The third word is the worst, it looks like "Blech." And add something to the content areas, they look a bit bland.

but, what is that orange dancer silhouette doing where it says "new sound in hip hop"

Haha this looks exactly almost like a myspace I did a while back for a band.

Anyway...uhm if this is for a band myspace then I would resize the box so it would just fit the music player.

It's not really my style or anything but it sure as hell looks better than the other layout.

MUCH better than your original.

Personally, I don't like the microphones, because you typically don't see rappers using those kinds of mikes.

I'd say to move the dark blue retro (?) circles to behind the image of the two. Also, switch the fonts for "a new sound in" and "hip hop" (not definite, I'd have to look at it first, but generally the emphasized words - "hip hop" in this case - are put in specialized fonts).

The font for the navigation links ("home," "add," etc.) doesn't match with the rest of the layout; try using the font that "hip hop" is currently in.

The headers are kind of hard to read, but I honestly would not know what other font to use because a plain font might look too plain.

The textured and fence look on the very bottom doesn't look bad, per say, but it's a little random and doesn't quite go with everything else.

I love your color scheme, by the way. :]

You know, to be perfectly honest, Im an ameuture and I thought the second one you made was great but from reading all the comments and seeing the 3rd one, I can see how it does look a lot better.

But I think the boxs look a little plain or the areas around the boxes.. but they may look better with text in them.

So.... thats MY opinion. Lol.

Its really cool tho, I love the colors and idea.
