So I'm having problems with my undereye area. I usually have dark circles, and they don't like to go away, even after I sleep for a long time. I've also tried those home remedies like the tea bags, and it doesn't help.
I've been using Almay line smoothing concealer with SPF 10, and it's worked for the most part. However, it dries out my skin a lot. 30 minutes after I'll apply it, the skin under my eyes is dry and feels scaly. >_> I'll wash it off and put on Cetaphil lotion (which usually works amazingly on dry skin), but it just turns red and blotchy. So I don't know what to use. My skin normally isn't so dry. Does anyone know of some good concealer that covers up undereye circles AND doesn't dry out your skin? :/ |

You know, if your skin is drying out and getting red and blotchy, chances are you're allergic to some ingredient in the Almay concealer. Stop using it!
I'm not an expert on concealers by any means...Right now I'm using Airbrush Concealer by Clinique in a click-pen. It's a little on the yellow side so it's great for dark circles. It's also really blendable and smooth, but not really long-lasting. I've also used concealer from L'Oreal's True Match, and it's really blendable. For a while I just used stick foundation to cover my undereye circles and that worked fine too (that was SUPER creamy and awesome). To prevent drying, I would suggest applying some eye cream to prep the eye area before applying concealer. Your concealer will apply more evenly, won't tug, and (hopefully) won't dry your skin out. |

Something about drugstore foundation/concealers irk me. I don't like how you can't try it before you buy.
I don't think there is really anything considered the best concealer. It all really depends on how your skin is and what works for you. If your skin is on the dry side, go for a regular type of concealer instead of an oil-free one. As Gigi said, a yellow tone helps even out dark circles. From what I've seen, NARS (which can be a litle pricey) and MAC (not that bad price-wise) has a lot of yellow tones and there's a lot to choose from. If it dries out, put a cream and primer underneath. Warm up your concealer on the back of your hand so it goes on smoother and blends better. I don't recommend putting product on with your hands, so use a brush. It makes a big difference, trust me. |

Right now I use Covergirl. It was relatively inexpensive, so I bought it. If you're having a lot of issues with your eye area I would recommend that you go to a place in the mall, where you can have someone help you and you can get a more personalized product. Sometimes it's not a bad investment to make if you spend a little bit extra on something that you're going to get a lot of use out of.

Also, if you go to MAC, you can ask for a small sample of the product to see if you like it or not, and then you can go back and buy it if you do. If you don't, no harm done. |

I have the same problem, it's genetic. :/ I gave up on trying to cover it up though. :P
