So when you're at work and you have a lot of downtime, what would you do?

Yea yea, you can go on createBlog, Facebook, check the emailz, and aim on the interwebz, but srsly, what else? Arcade games? Bust out your Nintendo DS or Sony PSP? Bring out some food and munch? Play pranks on co-workers? Listen to your iPod?

Yes, I am currently at work and I am bored. D: I can only do things on the computer, and there's not much since people are out and about right now. :[

I have to keep my internet time at work limited (and I'm at work RUH ROH) so I can't spend too much time online.

I listen to my iPod a lot at work or doodle. I'm a total doodler.

I wish I had internet access at work D:

I read, doodle, or do sudoku if I remember to bring any.

Where do you guys work?
I have never had a job that I could use the internet at.

At Walgreens Pharmacy I could go through a list of all the perks of working there, I liked to do that, other than that I just do busy work or quit.

At my old job, I used to stay on cb or youtube it up. Aim is definitely another way to go as well.

I was just thinking that...

I worked as a waiter, so I was prety much always doing something work related... If it was a slow night, I'd doodle on an order pad, or play hangman or something. Once tried making stencils for the cappucinos, but then got yelled at for leaving the cut-outs 'in the way.'

If I had the option, though, I would totally have the iPod in.

heh they block everything at work. Even MSN, which they set as the homepage, is blocked. Wikipedia is blocked. Shit that isn't blocked like Slashdot doesn't load correctly. Stupid websense filter, I'd get around you but I don't wanna be fired.

Many sites are blocked here as well. For example, I can't look at any images that are hosted, since image hosting sites are blocked.

We don't have websense, but we did have that where I worked in California. I loathed websense.

I'm a billing analyst, so I'm behind a computer all day long (to answer someone's question regarding where people worked).

Luckily, Createblog is one of the few sites that they don't block at my school. _smile.gif So you can bet that I get a few introductions here and there to pass the period by.

Considering that I work at a private pool, there isn't many things you could do without getting in trouble. And then it depends on what shift your working. I'm usually working 6-9AM so I just take out my iPod and listen to music and sometimes read the newspaper, I do it because bosses aren't there till around 9.

I pretty much get to stand around and sigh. And people watch. I poke fun at the people I work with, mostly my managers. They're all kinda square.

I have never had a job that I could use the internet at.

I work at my university's library -- the main one -- but the area that I work in is the science & engineering department (still the same library though). It's really chill and all my supervisors (they're like, in their 30's) AND the librarians (probably 40's+) go on the internet anyways, so they don't care. We're "not supposed" to go on aim, facebook, myspace, or check email. But everyone does them anyway, we just do it discreetly. Meebo is not blocked, but we're not allowed to download the aim program. So technically, they don't really care. One of my supervisors is always on perezhilton.com and a bunch of other tabloid/news blogs. My other supervisors are on sports blogs and watch videos of sports. They each have their own cubicle in the back. YEA, JUST IMAGINE WHAT ELSE THEY'RE LOOKING AT BACK THERE! lolol

On the weekends, the chillest supervisor works, so she practically tells me not to do certain duties that requires me to "actually work", because she's lazy to stay at the front circulation desk. But hardly anyone comes in to check out a book or return a book (I help out at most 16 people within 4 hours) on the weekend.

Jackie - yea I usually just finish the other time-consuming work at the beginning of the shift, so I have a lot of downtime. I used to study, but it was hard -- I couldn't concentrate. Other co-workers listen to their iPods, but I'm scared to take the chance. ;x

luckily for me i've convinced my supervisor to let me use aim because i need to communicate with my co-workers at our other location. =P i work at a clinic in my own little office that i share w/ my supervisor who is never in that office because shes treating patients. so, i listen to youtube/ipod with one ear with my earphones. so once i finish all the insurance billing i just fool around. and guess what...i got another raise last week. =) lol

how's working at your university library?

Haha work's cool, but my legs hurt because I actually had to work during the 5 hours that I worked.

That's so awesome that you have your own office, Jackie! As for aim, I sign on aim, but I don't stay on it long enough because if I don't see anyone online that is available or willing to talk (or actually responds), then I'll just sign off afterwards and sign back on half an hour later. I enjoy working on the weekends since I sit around the whole time.

lol whenever I'm on cB or some other website, sometimes members post nastay/crazy stuff and I'm like oh shit *x's out* And then I just sign of cB. I look over my shoulder and fortunately my supervisors and co-workers never see it. DAMN YOU GAIZ! haha I wish I got a warning before clicking!

Also - the library has a bowl of candy and sometimes they'll have something really good (jolly ranchers, starbursts, chocolate peppermints, GOOD chewy candy, etc.), while the rest, it's usually crap haha. But munching on them is fun :D
