Right now all over the world apple stores are shut down. iphone 2 is going to make an appearance today at WWDC in cali. we are all just waiting for the announcement.
lets talk, who's going to get it. so far rumors are: -its going to have a major price cut from the first iphones. -thicker body -rounder edges -extra colors (red, white and black) -front facing camera for conference calls (rumor doesnt look to be true) -an actual working GPS system, hopefully its free, most-likely not. i just hope its cheap and it comes in red. EDITTTTTTTTTTTTTT |

I heard that the major price cut is only effective if you're getting a new contract -- or something like that. There's a reduction in the price for opening a new contract, which I would never do since I don't like AT&T service. Thicker body most likely because of GPS. lol my boyfriend told me to get one if the Sony Ericsson W980i is more expensive. That phone hasn't been released yet though. D: |

The iPhone is a silly device. Really, how many people actually need such a thing?

Obviously not me. I'm not into web browsing or those little applications that you can put on there. I think you have to jailbreak it first. ? before you did. but now that the Side developement kits came out, everybody is making applications that can be used on the iphone. -- my friend has an iphone and whenever i am with her im using it lol. i never needed the internet cause i always had a pretty basic phone, but now i guess i use it more than ever. i think its because the internet is so good on it. now its more affordable so its even better. |

I can't get it
I'm going to switch contracts to t-mobile for their family plan or w/e wish I could get one though. especially if it's going to be slimmer, have a longer battery life, and is more responsive |

i think it's nice. the back looks really scratchable though.
i told my dad about it, and i asked him if i could give him my current iPhone, and if he could get me the 3G one. he said he'll think about it. haha. but idk, i'm really happy with my current iPhone, it's just that the crippling slow EDGE speeds are killing me. it's not that bad when i have full signal, but when i have like 1 or 2, it's hella slow. |

I heard that you have to renew your contract to get the new iPhone for the discounted price. I don't know whether you can buy the phone WITHOUT renewing your contract, as long as you are still on AT&T.
I think Apple + AT&T are cracking down on iPhones being unlocked -- I mean, hell, my boyfriend's using his iPhone on T-Mobile! Anyways, what's happening is that by forcing 3G iPhone purchasers to renew or sign up for a new contract. :[ QUOTE Q: But what's this I hear about the plans being more expensive? A: It's true that Apple and AT&T are changing the structure and pricing for the iPhone 3G plans. Unlike with the previous handset, you will have to select separate voice and data plans (they won't be combined). Voice plans, which are the same for all AT&T handsets, range from $39.99 to $79.99 per month, depending on the available minutes. Unlimited data plans will be $30 for consumers and $45 business users. As a result, the cheapest monthly cost for an iPhone user will be $69.99 for unlimited data, plus 450 anytime minutes and 5,000 nights and weekends. That's $10 more than what current iPhone users' pay for comparable services. QUOTE Q: Why are AT&T and Apple doing that? A: We suspect that it's a way to crack down on iPhones that were purchased but were never activated on AT&T's network. By forcing you to activate the phone in a store, you'll be forced to sign up for AT&T service. SOURCE: CNET: Iphone 3G FAQ I don't mind supporting apple, but I WON'T support AT&T. SO SCREW THE 3G IPHONE! |

I heard that you have to renew your contract to get the new iPhone for the discounted price. I don't know whether you can buy the phone WITHOUT renewing your contract, as long as you are still on AT&T. dat true, but at&t has this grasp back thing, so when you buy a new 3G iphone your current contract goes out the window and you get a new 2 year contract, i like that way better (in tmobile i was stuck for like 3 years), so instead of a 2 years additional to however long your contract it is a renwed 2 years only on the date you bought the iphone, so your not stuck with 4 years of at&t. i think it's nice. the back looks really scratchable though. i told my dad about it, and i asked him if i could give him my current iPhone, and if he could get me the 3G one. he said he'll think about it. haha. but idk, i'm really happy with my current iPhone, it's just that the crippling slow EDGE speeds are killing me. it's not that bad when i have full signal, but when i have like 1 or 2, it's hella slow. wow i really thought nobody in createblog had an iphone. lol proves im wrong, cause nobody ever talks about ever having one. i like that way better (in tmobile i was stuck for like 3 years), so instead of a 2 years additional to however long your contract it is a renwed 2 years only on the date you bought the iphone, so your not stuck with 4 years of at&t. Yea but I'm not the kind of person who likes to renew contracts. I don't know about you, but my T-Mobile contracts have always been 1 year, and I tend to cancel right after. Actually, I get more money this way because my boyfriend's brother owns a cell phone store, so opening "new" contracts on T-Mobile gives a better payout, as opposed to renewing an existing contract. And actually to get discounts in the first place while you're still on at&t, you usually have to renew (aka upgrade) your contract regardless. So actually, if you were on at&t for almost two years, you're still on at&t, except you're "upgrading" your contract, for another two years. Haha I know this sounds redundant, but logically, you are on at&t for 4 years. Cell phone discounts are really a ploy to lock you in for two years. That's how I see it, and that's why I never want to get locked in for two years because I usually consider switching every year, but I haven't switched yet. I'm just waiting for a good reason to switch (hasn't happened yet). I know this sounds weird and it's kind of hard to explain why I don't want to be locked in for more than a year. QUOTE thats awesome! but since he is with tmobile can he use edge? Yea, but the edge, it loads a little slower the first time around. Like, if you haven't used it for a little while, then you get back on it (browsing), it takes a little longer to load, then after that you go to another webpage or check the weather or your email, and it loads as fast as edge on at&t. I could tell because my niece has an iPhone on at&t. T-Mobile's data plan is on edge. In addition, the data plan (NOT the SIDEKICK Or PDA/BLACKBERRY/PALM TREO plans) that we have, t-zones, is only $5.99 a month. There are PLENTY of people who are on T-Mobile and have unlocked their phones and put internet on it. Heck, I'd rather pay $6 than $20 for browsing the web. The only downside is that we can't watch Youtube on it, but that's okay because we just get on Wifi. |

QUOTE Women with long nails speak out against iPhone design Wed Jun 18, 2008 11:54PM EDT See Comments (449) Buzz up!on Yahoo! Most people either love or hate the iPhone's touch screen, and based on a report on the LA Times, women with long fingernails are among the haters. Why? Well, since the iPhone's touchscreen only responds to electrical charges emitted by your bare fingertips, women with long nails are left out in the cold. A woman interviewed for the article went so far as to suggest Apple was being misogynistic because it did not include a stylus for women and didn't consider womens' fingers and nails when designing the phone. Honestly, though, this same argument has come up against keyboards, touch screen monitors, and anything else that involves the use of your fingers, so should every gadget maker change the design of its products to accommodate users with long nails, or should people with long nails learn to work around this problem like they have in the past? I'd love to hear what Apple has to say about all this, but I doubt they'll ever address this particular design flaw. Personally, I'd rather have them focus on the real issues of the iPhone, like the lack of a video camera, extra storage, and better camera, but that's just me. Besides, there are styli out there that work with the iPhone just fine and are pretty affordable. This all reminded me of an iPhone reviewer who had a hard time using the iPhone due to her long nails, and in her frustration she said, "I guess people who use Apple products are too cool for fingernails." But are we? What do you think? http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/hughes/29052 |

I just can't believe the new price: $199! You have to renew your contract with at&t though, and the minimum plan (voice + data) is $70, which kind of sucks because I think you only get 450 anytime minutes, although you still get free nights and weekends. Or maybe it was 5000 nights and weekends... |
