okay so i have been looking for web hosting for the longest time. I tried the BBOR but the links are outdated and they dont supply what Im looking for and I posted on the suggestion thread for more hosting companies but no one replied or updated the list, so heres what Im looking for


2+ gigs of space
at least 50+ gigs of bandwidth
unlimited mysql
php compatible
unlimited add on domains
cpanel [fantastico prefered]
basically the basics

all this for under 10$ a month, but thats like strechting my budget
I can purchase domains serperately but if you can find one thats included in the plan then that would be awesome :]

Well, since I got my new hosting at dreamhost, I have way too much space and really don't mind sharing it for a really small price.

What I can do is to grant you limited user privileges to my main cPanel; I would let you control your own domains, you get MySQL control, and one-click installs (which is better than fantastico, imo). You just wont get to see/access my billing info as well as change anything about the other domains on my main account.

You'll have unlimited add-on domains/subdomains, 5 Gb space limit (more upon request), and pretty much unlimited bandwidth within reason.

My price right now is $60 upfront for a year, which is about $5/month. If you decide that you want to take this offer, I can set up your account privileges asap and if I don't receive a check or money order in the mail in a month, I'll put a hold on your account.

http://hostmonster.com/ is quite good. Plus a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Its $6.95 a month but they have a promo at the moment on $4.95

Also, http://hostnsurf.net/ are good too. :) Their resellers are amazing. Add on domains, subdomains, mysql, ftp accounts, email accounts, parked domains is unlimited. It has Cpanel. Fantistico.. LOADS OF BANDWITH AND SPACE.. and much more! sheesh. Amazing prices. I think if you wanted to spend $10 max a month you could get an advanced reseller with all the features I mentioned, 100GB of space, and unmetered bandwidth. :) Its awesome.

And here I am telling you all about it when you can see for yourself. lol.

^ have you been hosted by hostnsurf, or is it just speculation? for some reason, they're proudly displaying a reliability badge, at less than 98% up-time. for the length of time they've been monitoring it, it's nearly three full days their server(s) were down.

i might be a little cynical or pessimistic when it comes to hosts, but personally i don't trust "companies" that aren't an actually company with a reputable name. hostnsurf, i believe, used to be candiihost, which (like hostii.net) was run by an inexperienced individual. it's unfortunate that hosting sites are springing up as fast as myspace layout sites were doing last year. the prices these private providers offer for the features aren't worth it.

extremely low prices and no name to back them up usually means poor service, slow loading times, and an occasional crash (more so than an actual company). coupled with offering fantastic space and bandwidth (the amounts they offer would only work on high-end servers, and at the prices they're charging, they can't afford multiple, let alone one high-end server).

i'd say stick to companies that have a name built for them. i was with dreamhost for two years, and the only complaint i had with them was that the control panel is annoying (you don't have much control over your account). i was with some other company for a year, although i don't remember the name. i think it was 50webs, or something - they had cPanel, but nothing about them really stuck out in my face to leave an imprint. i was also with mediatemple for a year, and now i'm back with them - absolutely amazing company, but the prices show ($20 / month).

biggest suggestion, go with dreamhost. their prices have gone up a little bit (unless you pay 10 years in advance), but you can find promotional codes scattered around the internet that will give you $97 off or some other nifty gadgets. the biggest thing i loved about them is that your space & bandwidth increase every week you're a member.

I would love to take on dreamhost but like you said I cant handle the control panel, Im a cpaneler but I have been looking into some host and I found http://intohost.info/ Im planning to go with their resellers light and they give free accountlab licenses but again I want to make sure they are reliable, from their deals do u think they are?

it's impossible to say how reliable they are because they're so new. looking into their company, i've found quite a few problems.

1. they registered their domain on march 7, 2008 (and have been "publicly" opened since april 28th).
2. they're using a .info domain (the cheapest available)
3. they're hiding their whois information using a company based out of the netherlands, leading me to believe that it's a domain owned by an adolescent.
4. they have an unranked Google PR (not a huge issue, because it's so new).
5. their Alexa rank is upwards of 3.6 million (terrible ranking)
6. they're partnered with sites hosted with hostii.net and personal websites, and offering a partnership with people at least 13 years of age (what legitimate company would partner with a child?).
7. already an hour of downtime in the 17 days they've been running stats.
8. their news entries are extremely unprofessional, again probably meaning it's run by an adolescent.

there are probably a few more, but those are what i found in a couple minutes. =/

Skylite - I'm noticing that you're constantly looking around for a host that's cheap and seem to get scammed out a lot. Just remember that you get what you pay for.

If you're willing to go with a new or sketchy company that's cheap and has no credibility, don't be surprised when things aren't as you expected.

"cheap" usually means just that--cheap. you're going to end up paying for quality, because that's how life is. you pay more for a high-end vehicle, you pay more for organic food...and you're gonna pay more for quality hosting.

have you given dreamhost a try? people complain about their control panel being difficult to use (i just find it annoyingly uncontrollable for the reason i was using it), but it's just a matter of reading. why do you need a control panel anyway? any software you can usually install yourself with an FTP program.

i'd say if you can't find a legitimate company in your price range, see if someone who's already hosted on one of those reputable companies will offer you hosting on their plan for a reduced rate.

heartquasm's on dreamhost and can offer you that control panel. i'm on mediatemple (finally!) and can give you all of the features i have with my account, except for a control panel since i can't give people access without assigning them technical, billing administrative status. in which case i'd only do if you wanted a job...ha.

well the only reason I say that the dreamhost panels are annoying is because I gave it a demo run and I gave cpanel a demo run when I was looking for my very host which is closed now, but I prefer Cpanel above dreamhost but if quality is on the line then Im willing to go with dreamhost :]
