Anyone else read about the Environmental Protection Act, that if approved by Congress, would force gas prices to be kept high? This despite how much everyone's already complaining, and that it hasn't worked in Europe. I'm all for changes that help the environment, but this more than likely won't even. Buuuuuuuuullshit.

I TOTALLY read about that! I think it's a great thing. The higher the prices, the less people use gas. The less people use gas, the better the environment is. (maybe this is the solution to global warming?!)

Ummm. No. Not now, at the very least. Gas in Europe is up the the equivalent of $8 a gallon, largely thanks to similar regulations, and it hasn't been shown to decrease usage very much at all. Also, public transportation here is largely awful. Maybe not in all parts of the country, but in the South, definitely. It would cause an uproar, and help the environment very, very little. While it is a good idea to discourage excess usage of gasoline, a price ceiling hardly seems that it would be the answer, because the demand is proving to be fairly inelastic, if only for lack of reasonable substitutes.

Solution to global warming? Global warming is inevitable.
