My favorite food (including Italian)
Definately Chipotle, Qdoba and Rincon Mexicano. I think Rincon is only in Cincinnati. It's so good |

Lolita's Fine Mexican Food. Seriously, they have the best carne asada fries I've ever had, and their California Burrito (you can ONLY get it in San Diego) is amazing. I love this place. Plus, my city is right next to the border.
Chipotle's good since they fit so much in a burrito. |

^Yes. That's authentic Mexican food.
What we Americans consider Mexican food is actually more like Tex-Mex. |

I do have to say that I LOVE Italian food. I've been to some Italian restaruants around here and they are nothing compared to my friend's Grandmother's (who's from Italy) cooking.
I'm glad no one has said Taco Bell ![]() |

It's hella good. |

Carne Asada fries aren't technically "mexican food", just the carne asada bit of it. (That being said, I love Carne Asada burritos o_O)
I love the food my best friend's mom makes. It's better than take out. Cheesy enchilada's, regular ones, this potato with meat thing, hell, even her beans make me go crazy. |

Reconditee - personally I don't give a shit if carne asada fries are not real "Mexican food" in your book. The fact that they make it good that I even see Mexicans, Asians, caucasians, blacks, etc. eating in in a lot of Mexican fast food places where I live is good enough for me. And OF COURSE home made Mexican food is the best. Isn't it obvious? My best friend is Mexican and her mom makes the best salsa and my sister makes the second best salsa I've ever tasted. Yea I've had tortas, carne asada burritos, etc. as well. |

I'm just stating a fact, as Bishinobi stated earlier. Mexican food in America is usually the "watered-down" version of american food, and thus are never considered authentic mexican food, which is what this thread is asking about. Its just fast food. No need to get hostile. I never once said that I personally didn't like carne asada fries. Its one of the favorites in the Inland Empire, amongst my friends, neighbors, people I don't even know, etc.
Now for my ADD moment, there's this place two hours south of TJ that makes the best shrimp cocktails I've ever tasted. |

God damn those are bomb. I want me some tacos. |

If you go to the first post, the topic creator is LISTING places that they think have the best Mexican food. BTW you might want to re-phrase what I bolded, since that makes no sense. This thread is not asking about "authentic mexican food", but maybe you subconsciously assumed that it said that in the first post? ![]() And like I said, the topic creator is asking for places that you think have good Mexican food, not for us to go and pick out which foods are authentic and which are totally watered-down. As for hostility, there is no hostility, that's just the way I post. However you take it is none of my concern. BTW If anyone's ever been to Old Town, they have some DAMN GOOD Mexican food (fine dining). ELBA - we should go to Old Town some time. ![]() ![]() |

Yeah we should def. go there. Unless it is overpriced, in which case we can just go to the one by Armond's house, lol.

Real or tex?
Real is disgusting. Tex is good. All Tex Mex tastes the same to me though, its just about what f**ks up my digestive system the least. |

YOU LIVE IN CERRITOS, DON'T YOU?!??! XDDD
My cousins and I get sooo irritated, because our other cousins live in Cerritos, and our variation of Alberto's here, is their Albert Taco's XD Edit - Kudos on the essay. But uhm. Christina, I was just stating a fact that carne asada isn't really mexican food, considering the fries bit of it. That's all. I never once demeaned it in any sort of way, as I love carne asada fries, too. xD I would have said the same thing about Taco Bell. |

Hm. Inside joke between my cousins, I guess. It's like, "Let's go out to eat at Alberto's!" "You mean Albert TACO'S?!??!?" "NO! Alberto's!" Yeah, kay my cousins are weird. Sue me.
