Ok so im trying to put myself on a diet but i can't stay away from those chips!! Everytime im tempted to eat something unhealthy, i'd just drink alot of water but that just made me want it more!
So what do you guys do when you're tempted to eat something you're not supposed to?

i always ask myself, "am i going to feel better about myself after i eat this?" haha, i know it's pretty dumb, but it has helped me a LOT.

also, i try to take strong mints or gum with me so i have them handy to pop them into my mouth-they always take care of my cravings!

I'm victim to this problem also, so I'm not much help. :(

I end up trying to eat it in moderations -- small portions -- but then end up finishing the entire bag. :(!

Don't keep any chips in the house. If you can't access any without having to go out and buy them, then you can't have them.

I usually look for something healthier to eat that I enjoy eating.

I used to do the same thing. Now what I do is I put mini portions in small snack size ziploc bags. I keep one bag down where I can reach it and put the rest way out of my easy reach. It has helped SO much. I also make sure to put small cuts of fruit (strawberries, apples (pre-sliced from the bag, so that they don't turn yellow), cantaloupe, grapes, etc) in the fridge so that I will immediately grab for those before grabbing at something less healthy. Typically by the time I eat a portion, I'm no longer hungry. Also, apples and peanut butter, my friends. Both have a decent amount of fiber, which makes you feel more full.

Oh and water. H2O is your dietary best friend. I find that if I drink at least 8oz (half of a standard water bottle) before eating, I don't eat as much.

haha, I say the same thing too and it does help! Or sometimes I just picture something really disgusting that could have been used while making the chip (or whatever it is that I really want). Then I really won't eat it. laugh.gif

I do the same thing! I just remind myself that I don't need to eat things like that && then I usually just pick a healthier alternative.

Plus, it helps that my mom doens't realy buy junkfood anymore. If it's not in the house, I can't be tempted. :]

I preportion my food too, Rebs. I have a horribly habit of not watching my portions. Chocolate is my worst enemy, but since I live with my family, I can't keep it out of the house. Sometimes I'll make it a point that if I have a peice, I only have one, and go do something after I eat it. I also like to take what I am going to eat and leave the kitchen to go and enjoy it, because when I am standing right there over an open bag, I'll go for more. But you also have to let yourself enjoy a little sometimes, esspecially if you're prone to binge eating, because if you let yourself enjoy a little bit you'll probably be less likely to binge on it later.

I just eat it. Get it out of the way and no more worrying about it. Probably not the best diet advice in the world, but it works for me laugh.gif

yeah, it SO helps when those things aren't even in the house at all. since i've moved back with my family for summer it's been a little bit harder to control temptations!

A good way to portion when eating full meals, is to drink to full glasses of water before eating....this way, when you eat, you only intake how much your body needs.

Yeah, I know what you mean. When I first started out being a pescetarian, it was really hard to resist certain things that I used to love to eat...kinda like bacon. I loved bacon. throb.gif But the cravings usually just lasted a few minutes and went away so I just took a nice walk to the bathroom. Haha.

omg chips... I can't stop munching on chips. I'm crazy for chips. I always try to avoid it but when I go down the food aisle in WalMart or Albertson's, it's like... "that looks like a good deal for such a giant bag! I must get it!" pinch.gif

Javonn - not when I end up taking a bathroom break when I'm halfway through eating. Lately, since I got on BC, it's made me go to the bathroom a lot, even when I haven't drank anything for many hours. WTH. And one time (or maybe a few times) I would go to the bathroom and then I'd come back out, drink a decently-sized cup of water, only to have to go back and pee again 5 minutes later! D:

Find something that tastes better than chips that you can eat instead. I drink ice tea instead of pop. Tastes much better anyway.

try more of the baked chips? Or something else?
Baked lays? Sun chips? Pretzels?
they are healthy and good

also if you eat slowly you get fuller quicker
