The New York Sun today ran an article discussing possible food rationing in the U.S.

Since last autumn, in as many as 60 nations “food security” has moved from an issue many never or hardly ever thought about to become the number one issue in life.

Food security involves having and sustaining the supply of proper food sources for entire nations and populations.

The New York Sun article by Josh Gerstein today featured these paragraphs:

"Major retailers in New York, in areas of New England, and on the West Coast are limiting purchases of flour, rice, and cooking oil as demand outstrips supply. There are also anecdotal reports that some consumers are hoarding grain stocks."

"'At a Costco Warehouse in Mountain View, Calif., yesterday, shoppers grew frustrated and occasionally uttered expletives as they searched in vain for the large sacks of rice they usually buy.'"

“'Where’s the rice?' an engineer from Palo Alto, Calif., Yajun Liu, said. 'You should be able to buy something like rice. This is ridiculous.'”

"The bustling store in the heart of Silicon Valley usually sells four or five varieties of rice to a clientele largely of Asian immigrants, but only about half a pallet of Indian-grown Basmati rice was left in stock. A 20-pound bag was selling for $15.99. "

QUOTE(synkro @ Apr 22 2008, 08:14 PM) *
you know the energy returned on energy invested with ethanol is higher than most, if not all, other fuel.

if you have a better idea for fuel, let's hear it.

ethanol is cheap. we waste it everyday in chem class.

There is better ideas... like used cooking oil.. but our f**kin government won't let our scientists speak their mind!! Listen, there's a new movie coming out, it's about how our governments across the world purposely silence our scholars, professors, and scientists etc..

Watch this movie: Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed (2008)

We can even use marijuana as energy -.- but the governments want to monopolize on these ideas and they don;t know how to, that's why people are being silenced about technologies and new ideas as a whole.

We're going to end up like Ancient Rome or Greece if this country keeps going downhill like it is.

News update... on a worst level, there's a disease called UG-99 that's killing crops all over Asia, Europe, and it might potentially reach the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in the next few months. This disease as of now is unstoppable.
