A friend of mine never went a certain class last quarter and he only shows up for the midterms and the final exam. Notes from the class are only posted up during class, so you can't even get them outside of class, and often other students won't share their notes -- those science classes are competitive! And I saw him again this quarter and he tells me that he got a good grade in the class. WTF. mellow.gif HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?! He says he never studies though. I don't know if I believe him. My other friend always sleeps in class, but she studies like a day before me, yet she gets a whole letter grade higher than me. And I thought I understood the material more than her. Bleh. =_="

And then my own boyfriend takes classes with me and he never participates in mandatory discussions, but he still gets points for it. He even sleeps and I'm the one taking notes and paying attention. I even studied more than him, lol. I haven't even been helping him in his classes anymore, but when we took some classes together, he would never study and he'd get equal or higher grades as me! That makes absolutely no sense. Why can't I be as good at BSing or multiple choice like he is?!

cry.gif Does anyone else know some people like this or are you someone like this?! HMM?!

omg yes! i know a shxtload of people that are just like this. i hate them, so much. not seriously, but yes, i am being a hater. i get my good grades by studying and paying attention. however, my friend miguel sleeps A LOT, almost in every class [except in our english and history because they'll kill him] and he still manages to get work done and still get good grades. another friend of mine never reads the text for history and when a test comes around, he gets a's. grrr. _dry.gif

i'm actually one of those students ;X haha. well, depending on the subject. like i can't bs my way outta physics, but i sure as hell do it in chem or math all the time.

some people just have different strengths i guess. those students you mention probably either took the class before or they just have a good grasp on the subject.

lol in AP Calculus AB back in my junior year in HS, I would copy my friends' homeworks (I rotated to different people every other day), and I realized my grades were falling to a B+ (everyone else had A-'s and above), so I did my hw by myself one night and we had a major test the next day and I got the highest score on that, and that miraculously bumped my grade up to the highest grade in the class. My friend was kind of bitter for the next few days. D: IDK HOW IT HAPPENED!

Well, I go to class, but I never study for tests. It's hard for me to study for tests (I'm a SPED student tongue.gif )

I've had teachers who have had my brother in their class and when they find out I'm his sister they take a liking to me, and pass me anyways.

I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS! My ex never had to try or study to get good grades in anything but if I want a grade as close as the one he got I would have to slave over studying and homework and I wouldn't even get the same grade. sad.gif

And making that Mongolian beef too. Do you want to try? wink.gif lol Oh but then after that test I realized that I should start studying and that actually helped me pass the test! :D

Augh, lazy people make it so easy. cry.gif And I mean the ones who don't do anything and just show up after skimming the notes and do well. It's only happened once to me, where I studied for like 45 min for a final, and this guy spent 5 hours studying, and I got 10% higher than him. It was sad, I felt so bad. It was worse with my boyfriend since he studied less than me he and I got the same grade. wth. ;o He didn't even cheat off of me. Damn those multiple choice!

This is me. Not that I always do well, but it generally at least gets me B's, provided we're not talking about math or science. In those classes I'd try the same methods, but the results would be way worse.

I don't do any of my homework and I never study, but I still manage to get 90% or better on my tests. I'm still failing math though.

Yeah...I'm like this. I never study for a test until a day before, because I make myself believe that I retain my information better when it's "fresh" in my mind. This is a probably a lie to make myself feel better about being such a lazy ass. Anyway, I usually do better than everyone else when I cram, as opposed to others who consistently work hard.

Example: There was an English portfolio we had to complete last year which our teacher told us about 3 months in advance, and I did it the night before. I got perfect on it.

My method is biting me in the ass, though, because I'm currently fudging bio.

<3 sparknotes. But i haven't used it in a while, since the readings I have to do are just articles and excerpts from books. It doesn't help if it's just a couple pages in a 50 pg chapter. D:

lol my boyfriend gets good grades in everything except Math. He has failed math tests before. Quite sad. Even with studying, he'll still do horrible. Regardless, he has beat me in so many classes that we've taken together, ever since high school! And that guy sleeps in class and studies like.. the day of. pinch.gif *gets bitter*

Ugh. I hate students who get fair grades when they either skip or sleep in class. It's hard eneough that I try and fail but to see someone try to fail and pass. =(

Aha, that is so me.

My attendance rate at college was 37% - I walked out with a B in Geography, an A in English, an A in General Studies and a C in Geology. Mad. I was also granted £1,000 to fund my university application because I did so well.

LOL.

I'm that way in certain classes; neither of my classes have mandatory attendance so I don't show up everyday, I show up for all tests & quizzes but the key is that I make visits by the professors office during office hours to check up on my performance & just talk and get to know them esp. those that teach my major courses; I show interest so that they'd understand that I'm enthused & would like to know how they managed through college, internships, etc. that way they'd know who I am & when it comes to grading they'd remember me as well...not brown nosing but I used to wonder how lazy students got better grades as well so I asked a few & that's what they told me they do & some professors will tell you that too, so I gave it a try...so that's part of the secret...
