has your significant other ever told you they loved you an dyou just didn't feel like you truly loved them back?

did you say it back just to be nice?
if not how did you respond?

-editt-
i guess my point was somehwt confusing;

if you didn't love them back, what did you say to them instead of "i love you"?

My s/o told me he loved me but I felt the same...it's very mutual so I didn't have that problem of not truly loving him back, but if I did, I wouldn't have just said it just to be nice...I only say it if I mean it & in my case I meant it & still do

there's a thread on this already, lol. so i'll post what i said before. :]
QUOTE
my boyfriend said i love you before i did. and he didn't rush me into saying it. which made me adore him even more. happy.gif you shouldn't say it unless you know for sure because you don't want to lead him on. this isn't one of those "hey friend, i love you!" so it needs to be felt with the heart, and not just a thought in your head. right now, just enjoy being with him and spending time with him. eventually you'll probably feel the same and say it too.

If you aren't ready to tell someone you love them, truly, then don't do it. That's just throwing the word around like its candy. Wait until you feel its the right moment to say it back to him. Tell him that you're not ready to respond back with an "I love you too", your reasons why, etc. If he does love you, and doesn't want you to rush into things, he'll understand.

my boyfriend implied that he loved me then flat out said it... and i told him that he meant a lot to me and that he was truely someone special then gave him a kiss and until i was ready i didn't say it back.

i think that most people find it hard to not say "i love you" after someone you're dating says it to you.

just dont be afraid of their reaction
if they really love you then they will understand that you just arent read or there yet

same issue as me.
just tell him when you know it, and it'll come to you.
**they said to me...^ ^
