General discussion. Maybe we can turn this into an opinion overview of them or something funky.

What classes are you taking now? What do you like about them or dislike? How are the teachers?
What classes do you want to take?

Next year, I have lined up...

SEM 1:
Honors Orchestra
AP English IV
Calculus BC
AP Physics B
AP Microeconomics
AP European History

SEM 2:
Honors Orchestra
AP English IV
Calculus BC
AP Physics B
"World of Ideas"
AP European History

Eschool: Government, BCIS
Credit by Exam: Chinese I

After I test out of Chinese I, I'll decide if I want to fit Chinese II into my schedule.
If I don't take Chinese II, then I'll have six periods a day :)

I'm probably most excited about Orch, World of Ideas, and APEH. Orch because they're creating an elite ensemble without a minimum number of people so everyone will actually be decent, World of Ideas because it's history/philosophy/literature/art (!!!!), and APEH because the teacher is a badass. I'm interminably excited for APENG IV because I'm a nerd and always love my english classes. ;x

it's pointless if you took AP classes, and didn't pass the test so it was all useless. also, if say you're a bio major, and you took APUSH. lol do you really need the history units? LOL.

Yup, i'm a pre-med student, and I took APUSH, and look at me now. I look back, and realize I wasted all that effort in Highschool for nothing. I mean it would make sense if say you took AP chem since it's a requirement for my major and I would save alot of money and time in college. but if you're taking AP classes which is totally differnt from what you are going to major in college, than i think thats pretty stupid.

Currently:
- University Writing (req)
- Mind, Brain, & Behavior
- Science of Psychology
- Literature Humanities (req)
- Gen. Chem II
- Piano :)

Next Sem:
- Chem Lab :(
- Contemporary Civilizations (req)
- Intro to Microbiology
- Science of Personality
- Art Humanities (req)
- (possibly) Physics
- Piano

^WTF @ ib. I'm scared of ib, but if I had the opportunity I'd probably take on as many as possible. How much harder is ib than AP anyway?

Mostly I just take AP classes for the challenge (GOD I SOUND LAME). I don't care too much for GPA and I really don't keep track of ranks... the only time I know what rank I'm at is when the counselor asks me what classes I want to take next year. I actually enjoy my AP classes this year, even though they're kind of killer... but I think the experience is worth it.

As for AP exams, that's totally different. I really and seriously think those are mostly pointless, especially since the colleges I'm aiming at won't take the credit anyway.

I'm in APUSH right now and I just think it's interesting. shrug.gif My only other AP classes right now are Music Theory (which I'm going to need, not that I'll be getting credit for it anywhere) and English. I can't even begin to explain how much I love that class :(

if my school lets me:

1. honors phys
2. apush
3. honors precalc
4. honors english
5. ap music theory
6. spanish 3 honors

the questionable class is AP music theory, since my school originally wasn't even going to let me take my other 5 classes together to begin with. our school's curriculum is a bit more intense than others, so they're quite keen on keeping the students alive. hopefully i'll be able to get in AP music theory because I it's not a completely foreign subject to me and I have a background/foundation that will keep the class fairly cruis-able. Let's hope the school will say okay.

Not sure on my second year studies, but my first year consisted of:

(Journalism)

- Media Law
- Public Affairs
- Practical Journalism

(English)

- Nineteenth Century Literature
- Nineteenth Century Poetry

Needless to say, I much preferred Journalistic studies!

Ok, I've just scheduled my classes. As of now I'll be taking

The political science major class
Statistics, because apparently the above class is mostly stats
Italian, because I have to
And a Greek culture class and/or a history of western civilization

And oh shit, I'm late for English again

as a former IB student, all i have to say is that you have to be really dedicated and be ready to do a lot of work (and a LOT of busy work) to be successful in it. i also took AP classes and the main difference i found was that in IB, you have to take all of your courses at the IB "level", but with AP, you can pretty much choose to take subjects in it that you feel you will do well in and therefore, pass the test.

with AP tests, i felt like they were much more straightforward whereas IB gave me more room to show what i knew. but i really didn't have a preference.

anyway, i'm just glad i got a lot of college credit from IB :)

back on topic! this semester, i'm taking:
-Ancient Egyptian Civilization
-French Composition
-Psychopathology + Lab
-Principles of Journalism + Recitation
-Shakespeare

my favorite class is psychopathology because i LOVE learning about different disorders, etc. my most challenging class is surprisingly french because my teacher grades super hard and i've never thought french to be particularly difficult in college. the class that i completely and most utterly despise is shakespeare. love the reading, hate how the teacher teaches. i feel like i'm in middle school all over again, filling out dumb packets of questions about the text.

next semester, i'm taking:
-Physics I
-Chemistry I
-Public Affairs Reporting
-French Composition II

i ufortunately did not have enough room to squeeze in a psych class sad.gif

I am finally in Upper Division this semester, but still not in the accounting major until my GPA is at least a 2.9 and I take my finall lower division accounting class. I should be good by the end of May. So, right now, I have to take three upper division general ed classes because I can't take the upper division business classes yet D:

Accounting 202 - Managerial Accounting
Social Work 350 - Cultural Pluralism
Chicano/a Studies 350B - Chicano History
Microeconomics 321 - Intermediate Microeconomics
Geology 303 - Natural Disasters

During the summer, I am going to take Accounting 321. Don't know about the fall, yet.

wtf I want to take a class like that. I wish I could take a PE class during the school year. I need to exercise more, but I don't really want to play sports. Just you know, actively moving and stuff. I don't think my university has that. D:
