Try using the magic wand selector on Photoshop, or the lassoo tool. You can always carefully go around the image with a soft erasor.

Are you using Photoshop or PSP?
With Photoshop you can use the magic eraser(for solid backgrounds)
the Pen Tool.. or just an eraser and zoom in and carefully take it out.

There is a lazy way, you can burn the background in PS or Since its black like take a circluar brush and paint it black all around the girl and then maybe do the magic eraser(it's under the eraser in the eraser tool)

good luck.

if using the lassoo tool, right click it and select the lassoo tool with the magnet by it, this is much easier to work with, as it works the same as the lassoo tool but also hits more detailed points for you.

i'd suggest using multiple techniques.

the problem areas in this image are the hand on the right, the black squares on her shirt, and the microphone.

using the magic want would be the easiest, but the black squares make that kind of difficult. I'd section off that area, and use the magic want for everything else, and use the lasso tool for the rest, and clean it up with the background eraser.

click for ways to extract an image

if you scroll down, you'll find "the quick mask technique." that's the method that works best for me. you'll just need to experiment with different ways and settle for a technique that's easier for you.
