I have, twice... once for work (they paid for it, of course), and once when I opted to take the next flight since the airline overbooked my flight and they said that anyone who gives up their seat can fly firstclass on the next flight. It was a three hour wait till the next flight, but well worth it.

No, I've actually only been on one plane that had a first class section. I usually pick smaller planes to fly on so there is only one seat on one of the sides of the planes so I sit by myself.

Once, because I totally missed my flight's date and I somehow butchered the whole schedule, so I had to upgrade in order to fly out. So I went from business to first class under $1000.

Twice...

Once right before we moved over here, we'd come over here to look at schools/houses etc, and when we flew back we went first class to use up my Dad's airmiles, since he wouldn't be doing as much travelling anymore, and the second time was when we were actually moving.

REALLY worth it though. I really don't mind flying coach in general, I'm not that fussy, but it did make everything SO much nicer.

I usually fly coach. 14-hour red eye from the States last weekend was a nightmare.

Yes I have on Stand-By when my Dad use to work for United Airlines and I never flown 1st class during a good period of time. It was also in the morning or on one of those small commuter flights where it really didn't make a difference.

Couple times.. only for international flights though... those are worthy, not for national flights, those suck.

Was it 'cause when United laid off a bunch of people? :( Or he just quit? I remember United got pretty wack at one point.

Well, I've gone first class on several domestic flights, and business class on international flights, but never first class on international ('cause I'm too young). All thanks to being on stand-by; no way we'd ever be able to pay for that ish full price.

It's a nice plus, especially on international flights 'cause those tend to be long as heck. Ultimately though, I don't mind flying economy/coach.

He got laid off after 9/11. He actually hated working for United. He said they treat there employees like shit. He was a mechanic.

^ Mmm yeah, sounds about right. Though I guess the thing with the co-workers just depends where you happened to be assigned. My dad just got moved from Indiana ('Cause Indiana's United got wiped out) to Chicago, and it sucks to have to drive back and forth all the time.
