Okay so today I picked up the Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals (whichever name you want to call it) starter kit at Sephora and have tried it once. So far I love it. Anyone else use this makeup? How do you like it? Advantages/Disadvantages?

I've read some really awesome reviews on it...I think I'll try it out in the future, if I could only find a convenient place that sells it. Vancouver is backwards like that. Yes, there is a Sephora in Edmonton but no Sephora in Vancouver. WTF?

I've passed by this store many times when I'm at the mall, I don't use make up but its nice to see that SOME makeup brands aren't so chemical.

you know, you can always just order their stuff online. i don't have a sephora nearby which sucks so i have to order it online. there is this facial cleanser that i use that's only sold through them. the bare minerals kit are worth the money.
plus, you get free samples with your orders too! |

I've heard lots about it, and I've known a few people who use it and swear by it - I've just always been a Clinique person and I never got around to trying it.

You're supposed to be able to sleep in it. From what I've heard it's more to enhance than to coverup, so if you have a lot of skin problems it probably won't meet your expectations. That and some of the brands don't last very long, so you have to apply it more often. I personally don't use it, but that's because I don't want to order it from online.

Besides the foundation, they have tons of other products that don't get noticed. I hear their lipglosses, eyeshadows, and brushes are amazing. |

oh yeah...their stuff is really good...i have a lot of blemishes and it really covers them up good...and i have dark circles under my eyes so i think it does an outstanding job without you looking like you have that makeup ring you get with foundations. i've tried so many types of makeup and this is the one that hasn't failed me yet.

This (type of) makeup is wonderful! I swear by it. I actually prefer another brand of mineral makeup. You can order free samples! http://www.everydayminerals.com/
While the samples look small, you get three foundations, one blush, and one all over color, so I think it's a good deal. I ended up using them for quite a while before buying more. Besides that, there line offers more colors (imo) than Bare minerals and you can order different kinds depending on your skin type. Anyways, this type of makeup is wonderful. Despite what people think/say you actually don't need to use a ton of it, and it looks very natural. I convinced some of my friends to switch to it from MAC liquid foundation and they love it. It feels like you're wearing less makeup and it's easier to blend in (since its powder) so your face doesn't end up looking splotchy and you don't miss areas. Besides this, it actually gives tons of coverage. I have dark circles, some blemishes, and some acne scars and all of those are covered and my skin is left nearly flawless. As for what karmakiller said about it not lasting very long, I personally had that problem with ANY foundation I tried so now I just use a primer and it solves that. I think anyone and everyone should try it! :D |

I hate this product...It dried out my skin and clogged my pores.
It makes a mess when you "tap" the brush |

Well, I've personally never tried Bare Minerals, but I've heard some very mixed reviews about it.
Sort of like MAC's MSFs (Mineral Skin Finishes), you either love them, or you can't use them. While Bare Minerals works great for some people, I've also heard from many that they can't use it because it causes them to break out like hell. Of course, this happens with most types of make ups and make up brands. The thing with minerals however, like Aimee says is that for some people, they can either blend with the face very well, or it clogs up pores, irritates the skin and causes break outs. Personally, I don't think that any mineralized foundations/blushes would work for me as my skin is combination skin, but the dry parts are very dry, and the oily parts can get really oily. So, I think that it would just dry up parts of my skin even more and cause my T-zone to break out. |

I use purminerals. The mascara, shadows, and blushes are great. I haven't tried anything else by them, though.

My mom uses it so I stole from from her and I love it. It really covers up blemishes well.
