I'm sure this thread has already been posted, but I'm doing it anyway. We need a Cb layouts section. Other than plain CSS I don't really know how to customize my Cb profile. So I'm making a petition. Reply to keep this thread alive.

::EDIT::
The topic idea is good, but not brilliant. Its going to be a pain in the ass to figure out how to search layouts by theme, which is what I usually do.

Yes, this has been brought up and I would love to see it implemented at some point. For right now, I think there has been talk of doing it forum-based, but I'm not sure what the status on that is. Perhaps a more diligent staff member with a better memory can correct me. >.>

Jusun (micron, creator of this whole wackiness called createblog) is the only one who can add that as a layout option.

However, as Dani mentioned, we are coming up with a way to offer layouts without waiting for Jusun to add this as an option.

yea this has been brought up before, I mean I'm sure eventually it will happen, but for now I think we were going to leave it to a topic that people could post screen shot of the layout at a specific side and then they could leave the code within a codebox under the screen shot.

That's pretty much it. If you read all the old topics you'll see that everyones all up for having them. It's just not made yet.

So I don't see how this will b e a petition considering , Jusun (Micron) is the only one that can approve the idea , (which I doubt he'll have a problem with) and make the section. For now just wait it out like everyone else.

We would also need a sort of a tester, as it would be incredibly annoying to test them on our own profiles.

If you copy the source of the cB profile paste it in dreamweaver or notepad (whatever you use) , make your layout, save the file. And then go to the file address in your browser you can test it there.

I'm pretty sure that works - it's how I tested my layout when I was making it, but there were a few minor differences that made the layout align differently. Have you tested this yourself? It's possible that I was putting the code in the wrong place or something, I didn't really try very hard. :3

Yea that's how I've done all my layouts and the ones I've done for other people. What you need to do first is place a random code in your profile. Then get the source so you know exactly where it goes.

Designing a div layout on cb is clearly different to coding on MySpace or Livejournal. I know my html and yet I'm still not getting anywhere. Is there a full script for this anywhere? Did you all use the one tutorial on here, how to make a div layout (for your cb profile)?

I vote yes.

This tutorial looks incomplete.
Is this really the tutorial everyone used? I find that hard to believe.

Incomplete how? Main suggestion... Read it all. If you get lost I don't mind helping you either. So you can PM me if you want. If you have any suggestions for it feel free to PM me those too.

Updates and additions to the tutorial will occur sporadically. It's sort of a living breathing document in that respect. I was able to understand the tutorial completely, notwithstanding my coding naiveté.

I would follow Toya's suggestion, read through it entirely a couple of times and don't be hesitant to ask questions.

True true!

There are so many people at my school who ask me to help them if they want to remove something like a test result or a specific picture from their profile. they just email me the entire code then I remove the part of the code that they don't want. Then they ask me how in the world I did it I explain it to them and then they are like I still don't get it. So I just give up if they dont get it after my third time explaining it. Its like a 1,2,3 strikes your out rule.

But yeah I remember when I first found out how to make a myspace layout I was flipping out.

I have a lot of old profile codes that I've used in the past that I could upload to the tutorial as templates for people if anyone is really struggling.

Yesss. I would LOVE to put my own graphics and make my own, but I'm fairly new at coding and I have no clue where to start. =/

I know there's a whole guide for coding cB layouts, but I'd rather just do what I did for myspace: Use other layouts and edit (not the images, just fonts and stuff) and get used to the coding before I dive in. I don't want to piece all of that together and cross my fingers for it to work the first time I put it all on there myself.

Just my opinion. C= I'll be happy either way, I can figure it out. biggrin.gif

Using other layouts and editing is technically stealing. Just to let you know. _smile.gif And saying that isn't really going to make people want to post their codes up here.
