I made this quite awhile ago. When I had only the 30-day trial version of CS3 I think...

Anyway, it was originally a Dolce & Gabbana ad but I tweaked it a bit.

Nothing that is really interesting about it. Doesn't even show enough changes to be good enough. Care if you post the original so people can see a "change." (if there was actually a huge one). I really don't see a big change in the image, and without seeing the original, it looks like you just added a effect to the sunglasses and made her lips red. You also added a font on the side of the sunglasses I think? This is just flat and boring. The reflection of her sunglasses is unreal (obviously), and you should have made it reflect something that would be more realistic. It looks like you just added those three effects (or two) and just turned it grey scale before you started the effects..

Those are the only things I did actually.
I never said it was this super crazy manipulation photoshop masterpiece. At the time I knew only how to do a few things, and at the time I was quite proud of it.

I never said it was a crazy manipulation, did I? ;) I just stated that there should have been more bigger changes instead of just those things. What's the use of doing a few tweaks if it doesn't show any change from the original? That's the point of photoshop. You edit and you create something from the original piece. All you did were things that could have looked like the original image (although it could have been way better with the reflection from the sunglasses). Anyways, if you want some critique, the sunglasses reflection could have been much better, and I understand that you could only do those few things. You could have just played around with the effects and swatches more.

The point of Photoshop isn't just to change things from the original, but enhance them.

Regardless of the effects you use, everything you do to an image in Photoshop should be in an effort to enhance it.

Conceptually, its a good graphic, but graphically, its a bit weak. To point out a couple obvious things, the right fire lens sticks out and doesn't really like a park of the glasses, and the lips weren't outlined very well.

IMO, I'd like to see the image brightened as well.

I do agree with you, I could have done a LOT more things to it.

But at the time I was like "OMG! I'm sooooo clever!!!"

Yeah, sure the title is war torn, but it just doesn't seem realistic to me at all. It's pretty blurry and it just doesn't work with the rest of the image and the "couture" feeling of it. And I agree with the lips being unaligned with the real part of the lips. I just wish I could have seen more enhancements/changes to it than these three. You did okay though, for not knowing much about doing anything on photoshop.
