- Never had my parents read me bedtime stories
- Never had my parents pick me up after school or bring me to school, for that matter. - Never had my parents around when I was growing up - Never been to a sleep over - Never ever ate a homemade breakfast (or breakfast at all, for that matter) - Never been camping - Never had "family night" - Never spoke with my parents about school problems and etc Those are just a few on the tip of my head. I'll try to think of more, and then I'll edit this. |

> Never had parents that were together.
> Didn't celebrate any holidays. > Didn't understand first few years of school (I went to a French-speaking school and I didn't know French). > Never got to be the Green Ranger when playing Power Rangers in second grade (screw you, Jaimie, I know you cheated on rock-paper-scissors). |

The problem is too much early-born generation of teenagers compare their lives to an ideal American lives enough to lack appreciation to previous generations. We are all brought up in American societies that one naturally feels the desire to base their live on these ideals without even realizing it. Just keep in mind; we are different people from different ethnicity with varieties of background. Even older generations are not used to this ideal lifestyle in America because they never experience it. As a result, they began emphasizing to the youngsters about stereotypes, strange stories, misinterpretation, and whatever you name it. Therefore, their forceful beliefs create an effect on us as American young adults that hold us from tasting the real American life, not really appreciating every aspects of it.

Pretty much what I was thinking as well as I scrolled through this topic. But just to add to the list: - My parents never sent me to any artsy or music classes. - I never discuss anything personal with my parents. - I've never really done outdoor activities like fishing, camping, hiking. |

lawl. my parents were more like, "we're hindu, not christian/catholic. we don't celebrate xmas, and there's no such thing as santa claus or flying deer."
i think they secretly just didn't wanna buy the presents. i'm actually surprised that i never killed some little white kid's dream about santa in elementary school. |
