If its something that I need to remember whats what, to go back and edit, then yes. But usually I don't. It just adds to the time wasted. hahaha

I've never named my layers because I never have over 10+ layers. Why? Because I never make things that need that much. I usually just keep it as the default name and if I need to edit something, I usually remember what their name is. :P Once I get into more advanced things I'll probably start naming them. I never really bothered to name them though D:

i usually don't mainly because i know what's on what layer.
although it does help if you have same changes on different layers if you get what i'm saying.
& also sometimes in my tutorials i tell my audience to re-name them so i don't have to keep saying "layer 1" layer 3". it gets annoying. & also so they learn stuff.

My strict rule of thumb is that I only name the design layers when I know I'll be working on a layout which is running over 50 layers. Other than that, I really don't bother myself to do so.
