It seems like every couple years, the line between what's acceptable language and what isn't is pushed further and further. I remember when "Bitch" used to be such a forbidden word, in casual conversation as well as in the media.

Now you hear the word all over the tv, and the taboo word of the year is "c**t." When I hear that word, especially from women, I just get so disgusted. But it amazes me that we've even gone that far.

Remember when South Park used the word shit XXX amount of time.

The Boondocks loosely uses the word n***a.

Look at CB, three years ago, mods were getting bent out of shape for someone cursing in this maf**ka.

yeah i think the rules of whats acceptable and whats not are being pushed all the time.

i get surprised when i'm watching soemthing like I Love New York and i hear the word b*tch, a-hole, and even damn.

i think they should block it all out.

I've never understood why a-hole was bleeped out, nor why the middle finger was blurred.
But ass is allowed???
Weird.

Language is always evolving. I don't recall, "damnit" ever being a horrible thing to say, and I don't think all swear words should be blocked out. I mean, I don't know about the rest of you, but sometimes when I'm as angry as can be, "holy jellybeans" just doesn't express the amount that I feel as, "motherf**ker" might. I don't think it should be any different on television.

The problem with censorship is that people will always find new slang to use in place of, "bitch" or "a-hole." Just because no one's typing out those letters makes the meaning any less "offensive," as it were. It's a highly subjective thing.

my math teacher got all pissed off when I said something "sucked" which apparently was equivalent to any other four letter curse word

BUT, mcafee has a new billboard advertisement out next to the freeway where we live, and it says: hackers are bad, we're badass.

I wonder if that violates anything..

"c**t" repulses me too. It's a hateful word, and I despise using it.

As for "God dammit", that bothers me too. I know this is going to sound religious and whatnot, but I was always taught never to take the Lords name in vain. Meh.

Our society has hit an all-time low as far as reality TV goes. The stuff on MTV (i.e. I Love New York, etc.) disgusts me. I'm so sick of seeing her fake hair, huge lips, and false eyelashes.

Reality television is the all-time low and the armpit of television shows. What do you expect? It's to appeal to people like you who get worked up by forcing yourself to watch something you don't like. Stop watching if you hate seeing her so much.

I DON'T watch, but a few commercials are on channels I do watch. Excuse me for expressing my opinion.

And Brandon, that wasn't 1 Up worthy.

No disrespect, hun, I just have a sincere discontent for reality television, so I just don't watch it. Not owning a TV has improved my life.

Plus, you have to admit, that's a creative 1UP.

I get yelled at for saying 'sucks' and 'crap'. So I'm forced to stick with 'Good Gravy Train!'. That's my preffered exclamation. But I don't get why certain words are tabooed. They're just words, and originally meant something completely different than what they mean now.

MY SIXTH GRADE MATH TEACHER!
She was this little old black lady. And someone in our class said cussed. And she goes, "Ya know what? I don't know why you young people all have to be so violent...cursin' all the time...good gravy train!" She would ALWAYS say it. It was her thing. Kind of like the way she always wore a matching skirt and shirt with her little scarf around her neck. AND SHE WORE A WIG.
