I like them if they're well designed and I believe them to be popular.


I'm a default layout designer more than anything else, because for me, they're easier to design, and take less time meaning I can make more.
I recently began to submit some layouts, and the default layout I submitted got rejected for being 'too plain'.
I don't understand quite why that matters.

Just because the admins don't like it, does that really mean it can't be shared with others who may just enjoy it?

Has anybody else had this problem?

Any advice to offer? (aside from shut up and stop whining.)

i think the fact that it is so plain, would mean it would have to be extremely good to catch ur eye. because i personally don't see a lot of "designing" to sticking a background image on two sides of a plain default layout. but i havent seen ur layouts, so maybe u do more than that.

I like them, sometimes because some people do everything to a default layout to make it look good. But I don't think they're as popular as the used to be. Everyone is into DIV OVERLAY layouts at the moment.

It seems that 99% of the people I see OUTSIDE of the createblog forums on myspace that dip into the layouts section like the defaults best. The designers seem to love divs more because it allows much more creativity. I don't see too much of a point in making divs as much because not as many people will be bothered to use them, however the defaults get really boring.

So I agreed with the majority, defaults suck but what can you do when most people like them?

I hate DIV overlays because no one who's really into MySpace is that good at designing graphics. So, in the end, we have all of these shitty graphics for MySpace pages that are always not aligned well in Firefox or Internet Explorer.

MySpace default all the way. The trend will sooner fade back into it. It used to be skinny layouts and f**king small fonts that no one could read.

It doesn't matter what kind of layout it is, Standard or DIV, but at createblog, we want to distinguish ourselves from all of the other layout sites... most of which happen steal layouts from us.

If you submit a standard layout, it's fine... it's just that it has to be of a high quality. A layout is a work of art, and we want to see more of you in the design and less of myspace. Does that make any sense?

I like them both. I mean I use default layouts on my MySpace because I appreciate the default look, and I don't have time to make a DIV. But I enjoy making DIV's though. It's ironic how i make DIV's and use standard layouts.

many people are more amazed with div layouts. personally i like div layouts, because they're easier to make (yes, i know, i'm weird like that). but i like using default layouts.

I like myspace default layouts, and love the way they look. I used to have a default myspace layout like for a year, but then like a month ago i decided to go for divs. I have a div layout, but i think i'm going back to default. I just have a hard time finding a div layout that I like..

i almost have 50 personal friends on myspace, and only one of them likes Divs
so i guess if you know a little about graphics and the designing of divs then you can appreciate them more
but if you dont anything about making them then you dont really enjoy it much
but i might be wrong

i actually didnt really like most divs
so i started doing my own
and i like almost all divs now

Defaults are fine with me, although I prefer DIVs. I can understand why people like defaults if their knowledge of CSS isn't that good and they want to stick to installing layouts whose codes they can understand.

well i have a flash layout and its pretty cool and it was easy to edit
so once everyone sees these layouts i think the hype over divs will slowly go away
i mean they are easy to edit and there isn't any code that you need to mess with really

If I don't make a div, its going to be a default. And you're never going to catch me making a standard layout.

imo, both kinds are great.

the default has a simple look to it. so, if i go with a default, it HAS to be simple. no crazy network banner stuff. but then i usually change it to suite my taste. you know, getting rid of/adding/changing tables and such. of course, im not going about making it a totally different layout. that wouldnt be right. usually the colors, fonts, sizes, and images stay the same.

i think div's are fine as well. but just like default, it depends. i like having control over things and with div's i dont have much lenience. but depending on which one i choose, i of course like it the way it is.

idk, i guess whatever my mood is when i decide to change my layout is the main factor for which kind of layout i would choose
