I've worked in retail for two years, and I can tell you that I get bitched at every time something gets stolen. It's not fair, because a lot of the time it's not something I could have prevented. So, basically.. you're hurting a lot of people when you steal, you're making the price of merchandise go up, you're creating a lot of headache for the person who didn't catch you doing it. It just irks me. Of course, I've sold expensive gifts and shoes, so it's a bit more of a problem when people steal from me.

I never shoplifted, but there were times when I brought an item beyond that sensor thing and I got scared when it made a noise. Hella stupid they put the items like a foot away -_-

I've shoplifted like 6 times. When I was 12 I stole Pokemon cards, haha. The past 3 times I've shoplifted were condoms, lmao.

I don't steal...I think it's wrong
other than the one time when I was like five I think...I wanted some christmas erasers and my mom didn't want to buy them for me so I just picked them up when my mom wasn't looking...but when we got in the car she saw I had them so I had to return them |

That happened to me too. I walked out with baseball cards and a pencil when I was little and my mom made me give them back and had the manager pretend like he was gonna call the cops and I was crying haha. I remember him saying "Well, ok, since you seem like you're sorry and have learned a lesson, I won't." That scared me so bad. ![]() |

I've never, will never, and have never even thought about stealing from an individual person - but I'm always tempted whenever I go to a store like Sephora or Saks 5th.
I never actually took anything until yesterday, though. I was at Saks 5th and saw this Karl Lagerfeld tank top that was way too expensive for it's own good and noticed that it didn't have a sensor tag... so I accidentally-on-purpose wore it out. It was really exciting. I should feel more guilty than I am, but hey... who's REALLY going to spend hundreds on a flimsy tank top? |

I'm the duty manager of a well known retail store in England - and I swear, the amount of stuff that gets pinched by little bastards too tight to fork out a couple of quid for something is a hell of a headache for me. It does put prices up, it ruins having 'live' displays and it's additional worry. There is nothing worse in retail than working for a store you love and seeing empty packages with the content stolen out of it stuffed down the back of some shelf. If I catch people stealing from my store, I make sure they get reported and banned. If we can't prove anything's been stolen I follow them around like a goddamn limpet and they get the picture. Pricks. Sorry, but I detest thieves. You're not just stealing from a faceless store - you're stealing the wages of employees, new stock, improved stock, building repair and maintenance - it all adds up. I have never stolen anything in my life and I never would. It's called self-control as well as respect. I get my cheap thrills elsewhere. |

I've shoplifted only once, that was for a Hershey's chocolate bar, back in the fifth grade.
I'm such a badass. ![]() |

I never have before, don't plan on it either, and if I don't have the money I just save up for next time. It's not hard.

It's funny when I watch an episode of World's Dumbest Criminals and people who utilize their children in their shoplift.
I remember one episode when the kid told the security guard, "I have free clothes in my backpack!" |
