I actually really liked this book. We read it my freshman year, and although I haven't read it since, I can still remember bits and pieces of it. I think it's the only book I enjoyed reading in high school.

Isn't this like the 2nd best selling book, next to the bible?

I even had fish named Scout and Atticus. Atticus died the first time I cleaned the tank, then Hitler and Scout ate Henry Ford, then Scout died, so now I'm just left with Hitler and I haven't cleaned the tank since.

I don't honestly see how you can compare To Kill a Mockingbird to the Harry Potter series.

But, I had to read it in 7th or 8th grade (don't remember which). It was pretty good. Some parts were a little hard for me to understand at first, but it wasn't boring or anything.
I didn't like the movie, though.

Read it. Put it down, and then never picked it up again. It's not the best book in the world, and I wouldn't put it on my list of good reads.

I remember I enjoyed reading it back in 8th grade, but sadly I don't much from it. That's what happens when I read books for school projects and such. Except Animal Farm and The Jungle. Oh man those two were fun to read. :P

I think To Kill a Mockingbird was a very mature book at the time that I read it.. There were so many ambiguous implications. :P

I read this book and I hated it. Only because at the time I was a hardcore mythology book worm and my stupid teacher gave us the assignment to read the book and turn in a book report =\

I don't take orders all that well in school, I hated being told what to read, what chapters to read, when to read them, bah!

Merge my post please -,-

the book was amazing! i wouldn't say the plot was too great, kind of cliche in my opinion, but the style of it was really well portrayed. telling it from scout's point of view was perfect! i loved the description of summer days, and i loved the scenes with dill :) it reminds me of youth.

I was so about to make a thread about this. Until I saw this one. But yeah, we JUST finished reading it today. I actually thought it was really good; I haven't really enjoyed a book that I was forced to read in a while. But seriously, it was actually really funny...

Things I remember from the book...

"I ain't ever heard of no (negro) snowman!"

"The Methodists had to pay off their church dues, so they challenged the Baptists to a game of touch football."

LMAO.
