Wtf? Haha.

I returned those rock & republic jeans. I'll buy expensive shit when I get a good job. How did you get your job, Tung? I really want a banking job since I am going to school for accounting and banks pay your tuition.

I got hooked up actually. My two sisters worked there too. They are good with the boss, so I got hired at 16. I'm the youngest worker there. Everyone is like in the late 20's and 30's all fat and shit. Sitting your ass on the computer counting taxes and typing Social Security numbers all day for $13 is pretty good.

It's over 2 hours. And nobody wants to accept my challenge. I win.

i'm sorry i should have made a thread that said, "everyone, i'm going out with friends"?

QUOTE(nguoicasison @ Dec 9 2007, 03:12 AM) *
mang.. nobody ginaa wannaa compete about how much dough u got n shiet.. or nice shoezz u got.. fo anythin.. i say nothin win.. isnt his family mad rich or something../

if you don't want to read it all, oh well:

why would i want to compete about how much "dough" i got n shiet. i talked about this subject with my friend last night and he said we could never see eye to eye on things anyways because you never lived the normal life and i've never lived the "let's go on a random shopping spree and buy a $1000 purse!"
tung, you're basing it in hollywood* type view and have a skewed perception if you believe money rules all happiness. you're looking at the people who get a high when buying things. i know people who are addicted to shopping and spending so much money during that time to fill the void of some emotional pain. do you want to compare the same happiness to that? they are clearly on the different sides on the spectrum of happiness.
this also reminded me of my sister who is a gold digger. we have different morals and a sub conscience so i would never want to go into that. but she admitted she might not be happy having sex with an old man who will give a million dollar shopping spree but she didn't care. when she would leave him, then all this pure happiness will come.
no, i don't believe so. they say the same thing on people who are overweight and then lose a drastic amount of weight. if you're not happy mentally inside right now, there's a big chance you won't be happy 100 pounds lighter. also the same idea as if you won the lottery. if you're not happy with 10 dollars in your pocket, you won't be happy with 100 million. sure, i can be wrong but i'm looking more into the long run of things and the psychological aspects and not the diamond bling around your neck.

you even said in anonymous shout outs, "I have so much money, yet why am I not satisfied? :\" i dont know how else to say it but your view on happiness is very superficial. i appreciate what i'm given and don't think "eh, who cares about this chanel bag, i'll get a new one tonight. rolleyes.gif "
it may be 2007 but the saying "Sometimes it's the simple things that bring you happiness" should never go out of style.

John D. Rockefeller
When asked if he was happy with all his riches, he said,
"I have made millions, but they have brought be no happiness."

John Jacob Astor [1763-1848]
American Fur Company Tycoon--left his children with $20 million at his death in 1848
"I am the most miserable man on earth"

Henry Ford [1863-1947]
"I was happier when doing a mechanic's job"

you can go on and believe that i know nothing and i'm just a poor little girl who has no money sitting in a double wide trailer, i don't care. but the fact you say money is happiness, is wrong. then again, we don't agree. yes, i know money CAN bring happiness in some of the things you buy because you would be a lot better then living in a run down shack. but like i said, different views on happiness
what happens if one day your bank account is drained? are you saying you could you ever get happiness again?
my views aren't old fashion, they are just realistic if you plan on living.

*going back to hollywood. the stars have fame, beauty and even more money than you yet you see them self-destruct with drugs and drinking. most recently, owen wilson even tried committing suicide. there are so many other celebrities who have committed suicide also when their life seemed perfect. i know the subject of money wouldn't be as deep as that, but i believe it shows a point.
link

"...Other trophies simply don't bring the payoff one expects. Says Loewenstein, "If you're a single male driving around in the Ferrari with nobody next to you, it's a glaring omission."

"...There is a very small correlation between wealth and happiness--accounting for about 1% of the happiness reported by people answering surveys."

I'm not trying to be cheesy or anything but maybe you should turn on the channel late at night and see those babies in africa crying with flies on them while you're laying in your feather top bed and silk sheets. idk, i think you need to stop being completely superficial when the power of money with happiness comes to play.

link 2

"...3. Don't make money a top priority. People who say money is one of their most important goals score lower for mental health, according to a variety of studies conducted over the past decade by Dr. Tim Kasser, associate psychology professor at Knox College, and Dr. Richard Ryan, psychology professor at the University of Rochester. Money-seekers suffer a greater risk of depression; have more anxiety and lower self-esteem; experience more physical, behavioral and relationship problems; and score lower on indicators testing for vitality (feeling alive and vigorous) and self-actualization. The problems were not caused by being affluent-[b]but by making money a primary goal in life."

I'm not saying money can't bring happiness, but there's different types of happiness.
[and no, im not dissing you or trying to get in a fight]

Learn to use caps once in a while in your sentences. Fod God's sake, reading that essay, with no caps whatsoever was so annoying.

Anyways, whoa whoa. I can't believed I just read all that bs LOL. How can you say money isn't everyone's goal? Tell me why we go to school to get an education. We go to school to get a degree, and use that degree to get a good career, which gives us money. I never said money is the source to ALL happiness. I said it was part of what makes us happy. Did you not get the part where I said 30% happy? Or do I have to make myself clear again and PWN you? This is how all middle class people are. Do you know why they can never be rich. It is there mentality, that holds them back. They are satisfied with what they got, and they aren't willing to reach their potential. That is what separates rich and middle class people. Go ahead, and be happy with your 50k a year salary. I'll go ahead and enjoy my 80-100K salary being a pharmacist. And oh, if I ever somehow get bankrupt, which I have no idea how that will happen, I will always have my PHD in pharmaceutical chemistry, in microbiology thank you very much, to get myself another job. Seriously, you didn't answer my question. Who got you your computer huh? And do you even have a job? Quit talking shit, if you don't buy shit for yourself, and stop sucking on momma's titties. Fuck outta here.

caps? you're asking too much.
i never meant or said for it to come off as school and money is wrong....
i never said you would become bankrupt but i wanted you to think, what if?
"It is there mentality, that holds them back. They are satisfied with what they got, and they aren't willing to reach their potential."
is that a bad thing that they are fine where they are? i know i'm find where i am in life and getting a pay check with $1000 more on it won't make truly happy in the long run. i'm not the type of person who will feel better if i am sporting the newest shoes or hottest purse of the season.
like i said, we have different views on what is happiness in our lives and yours is very superficial.
"Who got you your computer huh? And do you even have a job? Quit talking shit, if you don't buy shit for yourself, and stop sucking on momma's titties."
Since when did computers become an untouchable object for middle class? and yes, i did buy my computer with my own money. i must admit my first computer when i was 18, i received it as a gift. otherwise, i bought this new computer. why does it have to be black and white to you on what is "poor" and what is "rich"? there seems to be no middle ground at first glance? i am steady with my money and don't buy it on useless and lavish things i don't need as a 19 yr old. i'm a frugal person so that's why i can't believe someone could spend that much money. i don't have any debts to companies or people, so i'm all good.
i collect tin cans on the side of the road and send them off to scrap metal facilities and work the corners then give 70% to my pimp. i pay rent, i buy my own groceries, clothes, etc. there's really no way for you to believe me anyways, so i don't care. lastly, i don't have a mother. thank you.
what makes me truly happy is knowing the people i care about are safe and happy. i don't see how someone can get the same feeling from a limited edition pair of shoes. then again, you live in california and i reside in wisconsin, big cultural differences.
we are never going to see eye to eye on this subject. but you may go on putting up silly icons and randomly posting, "HEHEH I PWNEDDDD U DIRT POOR BETCH!". whatever make you happy, tung.

My car, paid off what I owed too. My most expensive possession, my macbook. Then my iPod 30g. Then my Spyder jacket (most expensive article of clothing hitting about 180$). Then a bunch of stuff around 30-50$. Of course I have video game type things but I'm not going to count those :)
