I'm not sure whether or not to watch it. I've asked my friends who've seen it and half of them said it was amazing, while the other half said it was way too long and terribly boring.

any input?

My friends who saw it liked it. If you want to see it, there's not harm in going. You just might lost a few hours of your life.

I really liked it. It almost seemed as if Denzel was the good guy when he wasn't.

Absolutely fantastic, a technically perfect movie. I loved every minute of it. Russel Crowe and Denzel Washington are electrifying, and when they finally meet it's cinematic history.

I finally watched it yesterday!
and I agree with ThunderEvermore, I loved it! I thought every minute was worth it even though my friends felt it was on the lengthy side and somewhat slow at times. nu-uhhh. it was great (:

I liked it, but I thought the ending was kind of quick. I felt like there was so much going on and then BAM the ending came and that was it. I mean I guess becuase the ending was predictable, but I thought they would develop the ending more. I wanted to see what really happened in the case, not some words across a screen. mellow.gif But it's all good though. Denzel Washington is HxC. ;x

I LOVE long movies. Some of my favs:

Munich: 164 mins
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford: 160 mins
The Thin Red Line: 170 mins

I could go on.

i was discussing it with one of my friends today and I agree with Just_Dream; the directors definitely could have gone more in depth with Denzel's success/trial. I felt like he finally reached his goal only to be caught immediately.

I got bored within the first 20 minutes and left 10 minutes after that.
I basically fell asleep.
Reading about his life online is even better than watching this.

Denzel is suuch a great actor, I love his movies! I can't wait to see The Great Debaters. I know it's gonna be great, it's already up for an Oscar Nom. so yeeeeah!

But anyway to get on topic. American Gangster. Long movie, but good. True, they could have cleared some more things up--but that woulda made it longer. I would've liked them to go more into the trial. I like court things, and stuff.*shrugs*

Did you know he(Frank Lucas) had a daughter. They left that out.

Oh and during the filming the real Frank Lucas was on the set.

I did end up seeing this in theaters. Spectacular. I was a bit trippy at understanding it in the beginning but it got so much better later. These real stories are always so interessant.
