I use Maxfactor Lash Perfection. I think it's pretty good, it doesn't have one of those clumpy brushes.

I haven't really had too much of an issue with the other brands I've used. Most brands nowdays are changing their brushes so there's less clump. I do know that whenever I use the Mary Kay kind my eyes don't react well.

You can try Maybelline, Dior, MAC, and you can even try drug store make-up. I use Cover Girl.

I know a lot of people like to save money on makeup, but if you're serious about looking good, the worst ones are the cheap stuff you can find at any Target or Wal*Mart. Expensive makeup goes a long way because it lasts forever.

Eyeliner looks best when it is clear and precise, and it does not smudge or create the "goth" effect of having it smear down your eyes, so do not buy pencil eyeliner as it all oil-based. Most eyeliners do this, but pencil smears very quickly.

I would recommend MAC's waterproof eyeliner, but some of Clinique's products are not too bad.

not necessarily true. nyx products are cheap (though i dont' know if they're sold at target/wal-mart, but definitely a drugstore brand), but their eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented and some even are dupes of mac shadows.

wet and wild is pretty notorious for being horrible, but as you can see on makeupalley, their glosses aren't all too bad.

that's also just opinion on eyeliner... it depends on the look you're going for of course. you can take anything from sharp and thin (personally, i never do this), to smudged and thing for a natural look, to dark and thick (cat eyes, anyone?), to dark and smudged for a smoky eye.

i highly recommend urban decay pencil eyeliners. they do NOT budge.

for liquid, i use prestige - you're going to want a base if you use this though. i use nyx black eyeliner for my base when i use a prestige liquid liner.

sometimes i use nyx black eyeliner on its own and smudge it upwards or downwards according to which part of my eye i'm using it on, of course...

rimmel kohl liner is one of the best kohl liners i've ever used.
i don't trust ulta's kohl liner because the first i owned was great (though not as great as rimmel's), and the second two (buy one get one free)... tugging. that's all...

those are just the liners i have at the moment. getting smashbox's cream eyeliner tomorrow :)

there are a couple liner mediums you need to consider and i'll list them in order of what i consider to be the easiest to apply ---

1. pencil - it's the easiest and the most portable, imo. i'd rather carry around a pencil than a pot or compact.
2. pressed powder - i just wet my brush and use eyeshadow, really. very easy and versatile.
3. cream - you're going to need a brush. read up on these before you buy them, otherwise you could end up with a formula with bad consistency (ex. loreal hip line's teal... too bad it's such a pretty color!)
4. liquid - hope you have a steady hand. a felt applicator is the easiest to use for me.

i've never seen mac's fluidline been rated badly, but if you're just beginning, i'd start off with something cheap and easy - revlon and rimmel are great. work your way up to the top!

I've never used a gel/cream eyeliner, but I've heard that Clinique and Bobbi Brown have really excellent ones.

I actually didn't mean to generalize drug store makeup brands, but the eyeliner issue, and in particular, mascara. I don't think eyeshadow is that big of a deal because it's just color in the end, but the quality and the labor to make eyeliners/mascaras, well, you can't usually find that for two dollars. It could depend on the amount of oil your skin produces. I have mildly to oily skin, while others may have dry skin, so NYX may work for you, but not me. Who knows, I've never tried.

Yes, in the end, if you want to look as if you have a black eye, then you might as well buy any eyeliner you can find. However, I believe the girl was asking for an overall good, reliable eyeliner, and my vote goes to either MAC or Clinique.

What all have you tried? MAC tends to be more expensive than anything else, so if you haven't already, look into Clinique. Although I find it hard to believe that you already haven't tested this out.

An idea would be to go to a Nordstrom, go around the makeup counters, and ask the consultants there to test the eyeliners for you. See what you like, instead of picking and guessing at it. Hopefully, you can find what you're looking for.

That's probably your best bet. Different eyeliner works in different ways for people. I would say to shoot for Clinique if/when you get to a mall. I've never heard a bad review about their product line from people I know.

I used to wear shed loads of eyeliner; until I realised I couldn't pull off the 'dead' look with such pale Englandian skin laugh.gif

I prefer very subtle shades that just look natural. I might ham it up a bit more if I'm going out though...

cover girl water proof eyeliner is good and the liquid eyeliner << the liquid u need a real steady hand... if you dont i found by trying it on my lil sister to get a steady hand or try it on ur self if you dont have a sister at all just make sure u have some cotton swabs or tissues just incase you dont like how it looks....the cotton swabs work best if you make a mistake and you dont like it... just take lotion or soap n water n it comes off pretty easy but thats all imo

on your pictures i think if you find a really good mascara you won't need to wear eyeliner to be that special or perfect. if that made sense lol

I love my MAC liners. I've always been loyal to my kohls. I've said I disliked Fluidline before, but I'm starting to like it. I also like the 24/7 liners from Urban Decay. It takes very little effort to put them on and they don't budge. throb.gif I've only tried the Clinique kohl shaper and it's ehhh. It goes on pretty nicely, but it fades away after about an hour or two and it melts. Ick. D:

Okay, anyways.. I recommend any of the kohls from MAC (You'll be sure to find the perfect color for you because of the wide range of colors) and the 24/7 liner from Urban Decay.

Oh, and I've heard tons of great things about Stila's Kajal eyeliners. I haven't tried them, but they sound great! Apparently they can give you the effect of a liquid.

EDIT//

Why not put some concealer on the bags to make it less noticeable?

EDIT 2//

Fashion, anybody? tongue.gif

I use CG's Perfect Point in pewter. Black seems too harsh for my pale skin, while brown looks tacky.

I HATE liquid eyeliner. It looks very sharp and unatural.

Yeah, if you have bags under your eyes, just use some concealor. Use your fingers to melt the concealor and blend it into your skin.

Try to avoid putting too much eyeliner on the bottom lid. Your eyes will open much more paired with your eyelashes if you outline the line of your eyelashes on the top lid, if that makes sense.
