Ok so I have always shared computers with friends and stuff. Right now I live with my best friend and we only have one computer which is hers and it's located in her room, we are sharing the internet bill though. But I am hardly ever able to get on because she's always in here doing stuff or her boyfriend is asleep in the room. So I was trying to save up for my own laptop but I am always running into more important things to do with money. Like right now, Christmas, so I have $0. And I want a really nice one too.

I was just wondering if there was any way I could get some kind of a loan or something but I don' really know what kind of loan or how I would go about getting one. Any ideas?

That's if she want to donate money to that organization so every child can have a laptop plus it's not the type of laptop you think it is. It's one of those learning laptops like LeapFrog products.

you can always ask your parents one for christmas

Parents already planned on a xbox 360 or a WII. Kinda gay, it's not like any of us are home to play with it.

if you already have $0, it wouldn't be wise to buy another computer.
save your money and stop buying stupid things that you don't really need right now like that wii and xbox. if you get a loan and aren't able to pay it back, you'll rack up fees bigger than your little laptop.

You don't have to offer gifts for christmas. Why don't you ask your parents to exchange the Wii and the xbox 360 for a laptop. If these options shouldn't work, how about trying to get a job? It pays well. thumbsup.gif

go to dell.com or newegg.com and sign up for one of their credit cards, and pay off the laptop monthly (assuming you have decent to good credit).
i would pay it off weekly, like 50 dollars a week or so and remain on a steady budget for other things.
i make around 300 something a week, maybe more based on commission, and i fiance my car and some other small things. i limit my spending money to 100 a week at most, and it works out well for me.
at the end of the month, i have at least 200 or so saved up in the bank for other things, so that goes into my savings account.
if you have decent credit, and if you know, not think you have a steady budget plan, i'd say apply for the credit card and finance one.

Well computers is a need now because of school so she might really need one. You can barely get through this world without a computer, everything is run by one.

Because you don't use the computer you have now much because you roommate is on it all the time don't help pay the bill, what's the point? If you can't get on it because she's on it. No fair. Save up, and stop paying the bill.

I'm going to have to agree with this post.

Why do you need a laptop so bad? Do you have a job? If not I really suggest going out and getting one and saving your money. How old are you as well? I mean if you are in college and you have to get stuff done on the computer then you should be able to just go out there and get on the computer when ever you please. Are you living at your friends house for free? Or are you paying rent? If your paying rent and part of the internet bill and stuff then you should be able to do what you please with the computer when it comes to the internet and if your not able to use it that much then quit paying part of the bill.

Laptops: Black friday is tomorrow and the best deals are online at this point. The best deal on laptops is already sold out though and theres a few others but their not that great of computers. Save your money and I'm sure you'll find the best laptop for your money range.

Loans: I guess you could go to the bank and get a loan but if you don't have any money now then what makes you think your going to have money in the future to pay it all off? Interest is crazy.
Also if your in college then you should be able to apply for loans to get some money for college and other stuff needed for college.

Trust me, people can and have lived without computers. aka: the library
and i wasn't saying that buying a computer was on the list of stupid things but the wii and xbox are especially if they are the same thing in entertainment.

I know some people can live without a computer, I didn't say you couldn't live completely without one. But she probably have school or college and she need a computer to write papers. The library is good but it's nothing like having your own computers and everyone is in your business and you have to get up so someone else can get on the computer that may have something school related to do. You might need extra time and the library is getting ready to close and your research paper is due tomorrow. Library is good but having your own computer is better. That's what I was saying.

I suggest you get a desktop computer, it's cheaper than a laptop.

Unfortunately, you can't get anything with $0.00 in the USA. But, you can apply for scholarships & use that money to get a laptop...or you can use some grant money to purchase a one. Or...get a job.

But whatever you do, don't get a credit card. $90 a month for a laptop sounds like a good deal, until you realize you will be paying for the damn thing 5 years from now.

Well, Black Friday is coming up. They have some good deals on laptops. But I guess if you're completely broke, that blows. sad.gif I mean, as much as we'd like to have one, you don't really need one. Just start saving and from now, hit the library and write very neatly when handing in those assignments!

The reason I'm broke is because

1. My parents, even when I did live with them, have never once helped me pay for shit. Growing up, they of course took care of their basic responsibilities by paying the bills and putting food on the table. Ever since I was around 16, I had to pay for my cell phone, clothes, and anything else that I wanted. And now that I live out on my own, they don't help me financially at all. They refuse to, and I kind of like it that way. I am not going to be some spoiled kid who has to depend on mommy and daddy.

2. I am living on my own with my friend and I'm paying electric bill, my phone bill, half of the cable, land line phone, and internet bill, plus paying off another credit card, and helping out with groceries...on a min wage job. And you're probably thinking, "Well then get a better paying job." I am. But I have no car right now (because parents never helped me out with that) so I'm very limited there. I have a writing job waiting for me that I can do from home on the comp, which is the reason I need a comp of my own.

And it sucks because the comp I'm on right now is my friend's comp and I'm paying half of the internet bill and the only time I can get on here is when she's at work.

All I do is pay bills and buy food for this place, There's not a whole lot of money for me to just pay around with, and now since it's Christmas time, it's even harder. So that's why I'm in the situation I'm in.

Haha and yes, I stood in line in the snow last night at best Buy from 11 pm to 5am, because they had this insane deal on laptops for like 300 bucks, all for nothing. BUT I guess they were sent more later this morning so I'm going to go see if I can sign up for a credit card and then pay as much as I can on that every month or week.

Thanks for all your help, guys!

Yeah work on getting a computer. I suggest a desktop computer because they are cheaper. You can get a good one for no more than $800 maybe.

you know that you are able to time and have an automatic shut off to internet? i know there's a program out there. you should see how much you actually use and show her then use it to determine the bill.
