This topic is pretty simple. My friends and I are trying to raise $1000 for a local homeless shelter. Apparently, we don't have too many ideas. So any ideas? Please keep it appropriate.

Yeah, having a bake sale would work. Or just selling anything in general that you can make profit out of. If any of you can play an instrument or have a good voice, you could set up somewhere where people often walk past and y'know, get some money out of that.
There's many ways, you'll think of some

have someone sponsor it and you wont have to pay for a place or talk to some people around and maybe they can find osmeone who will not charge you.

I remember seeing something on the news where a group of people help a "topless" car wash where they had girls holding the topless car wash sign...but when the people came in for the car wash, they found topless guys instead.
 They raised a lot of money that way. Dont know if that helps.
