GREAT DEBATE AT LAST! Just wanted to say that. Sooooo ... continue folks. Hey truth is, there aren't to many things you can say in a debate after 20 pages of replies. New members can't pop in a give their opinions because the old members will pop in and say, "HEY WE ALL READY SAID THAT YOU NEED 2 REED TEH TOPIX!!!" Debates are dieing because there is nothing left to say. I'm sure that there are more reasons, but I think that this is a big part. |

I think Affirmative Action has the right intentions at heart and due to the racist nature of American society is still a much needed method to ensure minorities and women have equal opportunities. BTW, white women have benefited the most from affirmative action programs contrary to popular belief. I think that as long as a minority is qualified, then I don't think Affirmative Action should even be an issue.
For example, many schools in urban envirnments probably use Affirmative Action to ensure that they have a sufficient number of black and latino teachers. Sure, a white and black teacher may be as qualified as each other, but the black teacher is more likely to be culturally sensitive to the needs of her students and less likely to racially stigmatize them. (an issue of grave importance in the American school system). |
