So, I'm new to taking birth control pills, and I'm totally lost in when to start the first pill.

I previously took YAZ and my doctor said to start it the Sunday my period STARTS. So I did, but then because of that, I bled for a month straight >.<

So I stopped taking that birth control pill.

My doctor (a different one) now put me on Microgestin, and she told me to start it on the first day my period starts. I told her that I did that with my other birth control and thus it lead me to bleed for a month. She was like, "Maybe the birth control did. But you need to follow my directions seeing I've done this for a long time now."

But my friends who are on birth control took them on a day they were not bleeding.

So, my question:
Should I still take my birth control pill on the first day of my period which will most likely make me bleed for a month, again?
OR should I just say f**k that, and start on a day I'm not bleeding?

I'm confused! lol

Thanks.
