I want to find the perfect "little black dress" to wear to the black and white semi coming up in November. Problem is, I have no clue where to look.

I want it to be relatively simple and good quality.

Where can I find that?

try some local department stores first.

Can you tell us a price range and a type of cut you're looking for? And if you're able to purchase things online. That would be a lot of help ^_^

i heard on TV that some designers are creating lines especially for target, so i had a little look and some of the stuff is actually quite cute. they have some really cute dresses! here's the link:

http://www.target.com/Party-Dresses-Clothi...;node=144457011

but yeah, give us a general idea of what you want and your price range and i'll take a look around.

Anything that's not too over the top. I'd say like $300 the most. Cut, uh, maybe empire waist? And I don't know if I'd want to buy anything online...I'd have to like it a lot.

Meh, I'm very hesitant when walking into stores like that because I'm really looking for good quality materials, and they use a lot of synthetic stuff. pinch.gif

When looking for nice simple dresses and decent quality, it's usually best to go to the small unknown stores like in downtown or something. They usually have what you looking for, and you know for sure you won't be wearing the same dress as another person!

Have you tried looking at Jessica McClintock's stuff? I'm not sure if that's your style, and I think the smaller dresses are in that price range.

Betsey Johnson had an adorable black dress, as well.
http://www.betseyjohnson.com/pl/c/1140.html <- Those are the evening dresses. They're all meh; I don't see the one I'm looking for :C

Yeah, the online thing is difficult, especially for such expensive things that need to fit.

If you have a Galleria (or a similar mall), I'd spend an entire day there. "Little, black dresses" are one of the essential items to a closet ;]

Also, I agree with Tung. Some boutiques should have a selection of unique dresses.

Yeah, that's a problem with the Betsey Johnson website. They have very few in each size -_- Try going to the actual store instead so you can also try things on; hopefully, you have one near you.

My friend would reccommend Jessica's McClintock. She shops there all the time for her dresses like dances/prom/etc.

^ I only like the last one, but it even fits the mannequin weird. The area underneath the armpits / bust area poofs out too much >_<

yeah, it wouldn't be my first pick. i don't like the gauzy looking material. for how expensive it is, it looks cheap. there weren't very many black dresses appropriate for evening on the website.

Those ridiculously high prices items you are talking about would be the $50 socks they sale, $100 belts, $200 dress ties.

Well, once I bought a pair of socks close to 50 bucks when I was snowboarding, and they were excellent... so warm and fuzzy, and my feet never felt wet. But they weren't from Neiman Marcus laugh.gif
