Where do you think are good places to get tattoos ? For girls ? For boys ? Whats stupid/inappropriate ? Whats meaningful ?

Im getting a tattoo this weekend, on Saturday and Im getting the words " Only God knows " on the back of my neck, under the hairline. My brother told me it was a bad idea and now im not sure, but before i get a tattoo i want to be dead sure this is what i want, bcus itll be with me forever ( cus i sure as hell am not getting it burned off ). What are your opinions ?

Any other places you suggest ? I dont want them on my back, cus 1) its scarred and 2) im fat and my back is all nasty. Same for my arms, they are fat and like jelly and make me self-conscious and want to kill myself, so no lol. No ankles or legs either, cus I just personally feel that those areas are not my style and not where I want to get tatted.

Eh.
Honestly, that tattoo sounds super lame. I like the idea of having it under your hairline (I plan on doing something there), but there are way more many creative things than just that saying.

I love tattoos behind the ear and on the foot. I'm getting bows on each foot as my first tat ^_^

Do you plan on using the new ink?

Haha, i just dont feel that arms or legs are for me. I WAS going to get it above my heart, but that basically means my boob, and since I wanted it, I started noticing other women with it ( yknow how that happens ? ) and older women, in their 20s - 30s and a few even older women and it looked so trashy and not cute at allll. With their saggy veiny bags. Haha so niiiix that. I wanted to then get it across my collar bone, but that would be real hard to hide when i wear tank tops and stuff lol plus i want to get ' live the life you love, love the life you live ' there if i ever would.

Michelle - Haha AWWW ! I think its meaningful for my life haha. Its meant to mean ' Only God knows about the pain deep inside ' which is a lyric ive aaalways referred to and liked a lot. And, what do you mean new ink ?

Well, as long as you do it in a good font! haha. Some are just so tacky, I feel so bad for them.

There's a new ink out that most tattoo artists call "pussy tattoos" b/c they are VERY easy to be removed (which means they're not "as permanent). The ink also does not blue-over or fade, which is a GREAT thing. I think I'm going to use it for my first tat, b/c I hate how faded tattoos looks. Plus, if I regret it 30 years from now, it can be removed with the sweep of a laser!

Thats hella interesting ! I dont think my artist does/has new ink tho .. I'll probably ask him about it on Saturday. Im still debating the neck or not. Ive been thinking of my hip but thats so cliche and again, the whole fat factor. NOT CUTE !

Its going to be in cursive, just plain, elegant cursive. Im also thinking of maybe doing music notes across my collar bone to my shoulder instead for my first tat, cus im getting that too, i was just doing the neck one for my first. Im so indecisive ! And i want to be SURE of it !

I think as long as it's something meaningful to you, then I don't see why you shouldn't get it. The only thing that I wish people would think about more is the location and the fact that it's going to be there forever (besides expensive and long removal). The biggest thing that I stress with my friends is the location, because most of them are young and they don't know what their future careers or jobs are going to be and you want it somewhere that you can cover it up. I think the neck is a good location... but maybe not for words like that...

^ Why do you say so ?

I thought the neck was good too, because I could cover it easily with wearing my hair down or, if needed to for work, with a lot ponytail tied back.

new ink new ink new ink

---

Yeah, ask your artist. I only know of one place in Houston that uses the new ink; the other salons are too "hardcore" to use it laugh.gif

Tiny music notes would be so cute! I think giant ones are overdone and ugly, but charm sized teeny weeny music notes would be adorable!

Haha, Michelle you are hella convincing me to do the music notes. I want those on my chest, but to the far side where kinda my arm is, and then going up to the tips of my shoulders. I also want it to be actual notes from a composition, cus ive been in choir since kindergarden and it is a HUGE part of my life.

I think the back of the neck is fine...do you mean right below your hairline though or like top of the back/bottom of your neck? Just curious.

But maybe think it over longer instead of getting it this weekend if you're still so unsure.

And thats the first I've heard of that new ink...sounds interesting!

Ive been thinking about it for a while, since before summer. Sigh .. this is so hard, but as it should be for something like a tattoo.

And, below the hairline, above the little bump where you spin starts/above where your shoulders are.

I think im going to end up getting the music notes if my choir teacher has the sheet music I want.

if it means something to YOU, then it's not a stupid idea...
but if you need to ask the opinion of everybody else before getting it done, then i wouldn't suggest it. it sounds like something you just thought of, and haven't put any thought into.
