I used to be anorexic... lost a shitload of weight.
I still sorta have an eating disorder... I usually eat normally, but at times I don't eat for a week or so at a time and other times I binge and everytime I eat I feel like shit about myself. but w/e. the shrinks think I'm done with all that. haha. |

You girls have GOT to stop it. Please.
Ive suffered from all 3 eating disorders. Its not fun. Stop as soon as possible. Im bullimic at the moment and Ive got a severe psychological disorder and I am always afraid to gain weight. Its not fun. It will only lead you to nothing. It will only make you lose weight temporarly. It wont last. |

my ED started when i was 17.
Anorexia Nervosa. 6 years. I've been recovering for 2, almost 3. It's harder than "i was for a summer". It's harder than "i do it just to lose a few pounds". Eating Disorders consume your life. Not your spring break. Recovery takes longer than just "my mom figured it out and now i'm better". Recovery involves you knowing you need to eat. Knowing you really ARE sick... and changing the willpower from not eating, to gaining the willpower to understand and recognize that you really aren't as fat as you think you are. It involves you still comparing yourself to that skinny model with that extra cute top you could look adorable in if it weren't for that 1.5 pounds you put on when you ate that half an apple yesterday, and your pudgy belly is sticking out over your jeans. Eating Disorders aren't fun. They aren't hip. They aren't cool. They don't make you "in" with other people who are skinny. The only "in" crowd you'll belong to is others who suffer from EDs. Nearly 3 years of recovery and I still have to manipulate my mind to eat. Relapses into starvation or binging and purging. Feeling out of control and helpless, but damn, I'll be skinny. It's not something to joke about, and it's most certainly not something to claim to have when you just go for 3 months to stay skinny in that super cute bikini to catch the new lifeguard at the beach's attention. |

You know, if people just exercized (not just paying sports and running, but doing strecthing exerices), you can be tone and thin.
I started doing these exercizes two months ago, and I lost fat, but gained muscle I weigh 145, but I have the body of a person who weighs 120. |

What does that have to do with anything? well considering this topic is about an eating disorder, which includes weight, and body mass, and body size, i'd say just about everything. and she's right. working out and eating a balanced diet IS the best way to make your body thin, and tone. but it doesn't change the fact that EDs are a disease, and for those that suffer, working out and eating right just isn't good enough for them. a lot of people who suffer from eating disorders work out like crazy and still don't eat. or they binge and purge. and lets not forget there is an eating disorder called Compulsive Overeating Disorder. it's not just about the thin. |

I haven't but last summer i tried to starve myself but it's not somthing you can force, that's why it's a called a disorder. And i won't lie but sometimes i wish you can force it.

I used to do Pilates for 15 minutes every day.
Not only is it a great way to get in shape, it makes you REALLY flexible. I never had an eating disorder, but in junior high I was 5'7 and a size 00 was a little loose on me. The only fat I had on my body was on my ass and in my boobs. It was nasty. |

in my grade 10 year i developed an eating disorder. it started slowly... at first i cut all junk food from my life and started exercising. then it escalated. i started waking up at 4 in the morning to get in at least 3 hours of constant exercising before going to school, i skipped meal, absolutely i could make it through the day on water and an apple alone. after school i would run to town (5km) and then back.
sure i lost weight, but i got quite depressive. then after surgery one time, i was put on prednezone, which makes you gain weight, and my god i gained weight. i went absolutely crazy after off the pills, and that finally clued my family in. i still struggle with it even after getting help. im careful not to go too long without eating... when i did the famine, i was so scared for my myself because it felt so good to be hungry and i wanted to stay that way... and im babbling. as lilsnoopy said. im about 145 pounds, but have the body of someone much lighter. im very muscular... i still keep up the exercising but im controlling the impulses much better. |

I worry that someone I know suffers from an eating disorder. It's hard to confront.

A lot of people thought I was anorexic last year (I think some still do).I don't think I've ever had an eating disorder, though.
Like, I'll admit, I'm really afraid of gaining weight.I think overweight/obese people are gross (no offense to anyone, but I just can't imagine myself being fat). And, like, if I feel like I'm starting to eat too much, I just stop eating for a while. It's not a problem, though, really.I just do it to maintain a healthy weight. And my BMI is 18.5, so I'm not underweight or anything like that. So, no, I don't think I've had an eating disorder. EDIT:I forgot to mention this, though: I have a friend who suffered from bulimia. She got help for it, but...I'm not so sure she's still keeping her food down. :[ She weighed, like, 83 pounds at one point. EDIT (again): Honestly, if you really, really think someone you know has an eating disorder, help them. Yeah, I've noticed a lot of kids at school acting like they need to lose weight and announcing it and stuff, like it's cool and it's getting them attention. But, if you really think you know someone with a real problem, talk to them. It's hard (I've done it; turned out they were just one of the attention-seekers. :/ ), but it could really help them, you know? |

I used to be bulimic in high school. I didn't think it was a problem because I didn't throw up on a daily basis but... yeah. It wasn't a good time in my life.
