So there's going to be a partial solar eclipse today (from around 10:30AM to 2:30PM) and apparently, it's considered a bad omen in my culture (or for whoever believes it because not all South Asians do). You're not allowed to eat during those 4 hours. After it passes, you have to take a shower (even if you've taken one in the morning) and then clean the whole house, although sweeping and mopping is fine for us.

LOL at the title, and that is very interesting... I didn't know that.
I don't believe in that though. What is said to happen if you eat during those 4 hours/dont shower or clean? |

^lol i was going to ask that!
Well I don't believe in superstitions..although I guess I'm in the good because I don't eat from 10:30 - 2:30 and I take a shower and clean the house mid afternoon considering I wake up around then xD |

The sun burns you. You then get noxious and vomit everything you ate. If you don't shower, the sun burns you too, just because you smell bad.
Just a guess though. I might try to see it. Does it follow a set path and only those in the path can see it? Or wait, isn't that a total solar eclipse that does that? |

Turns out that was in Universal Time not Eastern Standard so I messed that up. @#$@#!@$
Today, in a partial solar eclipse, only those in South America, Antarctica, and the South Atlantic can see it. |

I've never heard about that belief.
Mona, you still haven't answered Kara's question of what's supposed to happen if you eat during those hours (even if they were wrong) or don't shower clean. I'd like to know too. |

I've never heard about that belief. Oh, I've just been told it's bad luck. My parents are superstitious so I've grown used to them. Mona, you still haven't answered Kara's question of what's supposed to happen if you eat during those hours (even if they were wrong) or don't shower clean. I'd like to know too. Aww, Jane. lol |
