How about the fact that someone was hired as a result of the joke?

You're confusing 'quite soon after' with 'as a result of.' Honestly.

Elba, yes, we're all QUITE aware that Robbi is stil on staff. Do at lest TRY and be constructive.

And Trish, I actually quite like your idea, although I think the staff member should still be able to view backstage (although possibly not post, although I couldn't swear that that is possible) simply for the sake of keeping up to date with decisions, new things, and the reasons for them, etc.

An admin or jusun (depending on what kind of privelages he gives the admins) needs to make a new membergroup with the above mentioned abilities/restrictions.

Ah, well in that case I would be OK with that idea, provided that change was made.

I do think that a permanent dismissal from the staff IS a bit harsh, depending on the degree of offense you've committed. However I do not think that it should be so easy to have your mod status reinstated after a suspension.

I think that there should be a 1-2 month "trial" period that's basically like community service. Give the mod LIMITED abilities(meaning, only ones that have to do with actually moderating the forum: queue moderation, closing and merging threads, etc.) They would definitely not be able to warn anyone. They do not participate in backstage discussion. No staff "perks." (Like larger inbox, etc.)

Design staff offenders should be required to submit a minimum of 10 layouts.

People staff... I dunno, have them create topics or contests or something useful to the community. Maybe they can contribute scripts if they are able to.

After a month's time their reinstatement should be revisited by the admins/headstaff/mentors. If their behavior has changed to one that is acceptable of a moderator, then fine, re promote them to full mod.
If they are put back on staff and commit another offense afterwards (no matter how far away in time) they should be immediately demoted permanently.

I have to say that sounds like a really good idea.

hey, when you're going to pull a joke, you should let a member know. Otherwise we'll think you're an exclusive clique... oh wait...

What, we're supposed to have a sense of humor about this and you can't have a sense of humor about some fake spoilers?

fukcing double standard.

One set of rules for the members, and another for the ruling class. We're in the f**king dark ages.

And you think everyone who feels this way is actually willing to openly voice their true opinions when moderators are like this?

Well, you know, I have a million little blue elves living in my bedroom who think that the mods pwn and that I ought to be made a God-like figure of authority. But as they haven't posted that here, I'm not going to ask you to care.

I think that if they kept quiet of their own accord, then they have no reasonable grounds to expect their wishes to be fulfilled, nor should they expect anyone to care if they can't step up and speak out.

I also think that if the potential for hostility were a reason not to speak out, the mods would have a great deal more to be afraid of.

There definitely isnt a double standard around here.

And if you guys honestly dont think you have your own cliques, then you're in la la land. When you're friends with the right people, it makes being hired for staff SO much easier.

I'm honestly getting tired of even coming on here anymore. I used to post and participate for fun... now its only out of boredom.

If a bunch of people were complaining about how it was so upsetting we would've stopped immediately.

I was extremely pissed over the whole thing. I wasted hours trying to argue back and forth... for nothing? I didnt exactly find it funny. I just said it was because I didnt want to come off as a total bitch.

Well, shoot, that's the thing. Mona said we would've stopped if there were a bunch of people complaining, but you even said so yourself that you didn't say anything to us (at least as far as I know) about how upset it made you, up until now. But now we know, at least.

(Despite popular belief, the staff can't read people's minds.)

That was Suzzette. :P

And reading what you and Kimmy have said, I have to agree with James' point for the most part:

If I remember correctly, we had a bunch of people patting us on the back for how great our joke was....
It's not like the member group hated that.

i've come to realize that not everyone can be pleased. lets compare this to the united states. how many people support george bush and how many don't? it's the same politics here; not everyone can be pleased. i don't think the whole april fools joke is a nice debate to be discussing in mod punishment because everyone knows it was a joke. just like the president, not everyone is going to be happy with the outcome of what happens and what the mods do. we need to learn to get over it, honestly. you didn't have the nerve to jump up and say something, just like they didn't have the nerve to stop, because it WAS A JOKE.

ok, now lets get back to talking about how mods can be punished, rather than complaining about something that was a joke.

Yes, it has. It had a good ammount of support actually. WE just kind of want to see it in practice, and so we're waitin gon a mod to really commit an offense in order to get it going.

We can't try it until we need to, obviously.

But yes, a good plan in principle, although there were another couple of proposals being taken into account.

I read this whole thing... I think you guys are stupid, but hell I can totally relate. I was stupid once. It was just months ago that I was upset for the same reasons, it wasn't up until now that I realized "this is only the internet". The best advice I could offer is:

1. Completely ignore anything and everything that James says.

This bit of advice will make anything you do on this site that much better. It makes a huge difference really. It's like the difference between someone eating good food and bad food and you're the toilet.

Picture this, you are a toilet. You're face is the seat. You're owner is a 350 lb. forty-five year old who for got to take his medicine before dinner. He's running to you. You can hear him coming up the stairs. With every thunderous step he takes the aching creaks in the floor boards scream in agony. He turns around, unzips his pants, and pulls them down. He's disgustingly sweaty due to the fear of shitting his pants. You can see his anus pulsating in pain like a dagger is about to explode out his ass. You brace for impact, but just before he sits down he releases and hellish chocolate sauce is spewed out all over the seat and back of the toilet.

Either way, just about everything you read on this site (unless it's in the design section) is shit, but the posts, comments, and ideas that James share are nothing but this Hellish chocolate sauce spewing all over the internet and into your eyes. I think we need a butt plug.

One time I posted a picture with a fellow member that displayed an 18 year old male fondling his balls. I posted it for James, because I thought it would please him. It was a representation of respect I have for him.
