Hey, I was wondering how I could get the blonde parts in my hair without overdoing it.

It's for Halloween, but I want to get it done earlier because I don't want to damage my hair all at once.
I want my hair to look like that girl's, if not, less would be okay too.
But I don't want to end up with too much blonde because I'm Asian and I personally do not think that Asians look good blonde.
Thanks :]

This may seem like a dumb question, but..how?
I'm not getting it done professionally is why I'm asking.

get random sections of your hair (as if you were doing highlights) and apply blonde hairdye to it. then when you're done rinsing it out after waiting 30-40 minutes with the hairdye in your hair, just repeat it again.

ok.. doing blonde streaks on dark hair at home isn't as tricky as it sounds... first of all, find out if there are any beauty supply stores open to the public (alot of them are proffesionals only... so check them out or find a friend who's a stylist and ask them if there aren't any near you)... sally's is a good one if you can find one near you... i recommend using chi powder bleach with a 40 volume cream or liquid developer (if you can find it) if not, matrix or framesi are also really good brands... most products have instruction included with them, but if you have any questions ask someone working at the store, they should be able to help you... if you have any questions that i can help you with feel free to ask away! biggrin.gif i hope i helped!

Go to Hot Topic and pick up a 30/40 vol. bleach & toner kit. It comes with everything you'll need to go blonde. For Asian hair, I'd say leave it in for 30 minutes. Follow the instructions given. Do it more in one day, and you'll permanently fry your hair. Wait at least 24 hours if you feel that it isn't blonde enough.

It seems like you already got some good advice, but I'll to add something useful, lol.

There's different ways to do streaks, when you go to the salon they put foil in your hair, but you can also do what's called baliage (I think that's it), where you put the dye on your hair without the foil. I've never done the foil myself, and I think that if you just do it without the foil it'll look more subtle because the hair will fall onto undyed hair and blend better (make sense?). There's also different types of dye.

If you're still unsure, my suggest would be:
a.) since it's for halloween, why not buy the stuff that rinses out at the end of the day?
b.) go to a bookstore (like Barnes and Nobles) that has beauty books and read through some of them for more thorough information.

ah! karmakiller brings up a good point with the baliage technique... it's a little more advanced than the usual foils though and requires a second person to help you... there's a little hair cap thing that you pull little strands of hair through to separate the highlights from the natural hair color...

you can get the bleach kit at hot topic for about the same maybe a little less than professional stuff, but "box" bleach/color is harsher on your hair... you don't want to damage your hair any more than you have to and bleach is pretty deadly... "box" bleach is also more likely to burn your scalp, so if you have a sensitive scalp at all, pay the couple extra bucks to get the good stuff... another perk is that prof. bleach comes in packages that are more than once time use and it keeps forever as long as it's properly sealed and stored, so that's another thing to think about when your roots start coming around...

i'd go with karmakiller's suggestion and go to your local b&n or library or look online and get some tips and techniques... research is the key to excellent results!

I actually would like to see if it would look good permanently in my hair too haha.
And that is the best idea ever.
I will definitely do that.
Thanks :D

it looks like she got "chunks" done, and she also had them done under the top layer of hair.
