Can anybody tell me if there is a way to make pictures like this using Gimp?

Specifically the outlined brush bg that is a gradient and same thing with the writing... any help with be appreciated very much.

are you talking about the background or default picture? im not sure what your talking about.

It looks like they made two layers, and did each in white, then stroked them with a gradient. I'll try it out and post a tutorial in a few days.

I do not think it is exactly the same with GIMPshop but in Photoshop I believe it's called a gradient overlay? I may have it wrong. Check if GIMP has some sort of similar effect.

gimp is pretty much different from other programs like photoshop and paintshop pro. i cant tell though.

sorry i skipped the part about GIMP. uhmmm, how much different is gimp from photoshop? i guess if you know what you're doing you can do the same thing as photoshop?

Ok here's the basic. I'm not sure if all these options are on GIMP...just look around/google the options.

Make a new image, with a WHITE background. Then, add a new layer, and make sure you fill it with BLACK. This is critical to see your lines/text. Next, make ANOTHER layer. Draw your lines or whatever you want on the bottom layer, like the lines in the picture. Now, once again, make another layer, and type your text. Once you have the lines or whatever and text how you want it to look, delete the black layer.
Here's the tricky part...I'm not sure how to do this on GIMP.
On Photoshop, you can right click the layer, click blending options, then check Stroke. You can then find the little color box, and on top of that is a Drop-Down menu, where you can choose Gradient, Color, or Pattern. You can change the width and which gradient.

Once again, I don't know if these options are available on GIMP. I'll google and edit if I find anything.

Alright...it should be something the same as photoshop. Either right click the picture or the layer.
