i'm 25, and got married @ 24.
it doesn't matter about age, it matters about maturity. i may have thought that at 22 i'd be ready, or even at 18 to my high school sweetheart, but.... with life comes experience, and with experience comes knowledge. i'm perfectly glad i waited until 24 to get married. and it wasn't the AGE that made me want to get married it was the person, and the commitment we both wanted to make to each other. married at 16? don't you need parents consent to do that? and both of the parents? if the dad is pissed, how did they get away with legally getting married? i don't see how getting married at 16 is relatively smart anyhow, seeing as how you really can't even get pierced or tattooed or buy a pack of cigarettes, or alcohol, or rent a car at 16. |

i agreee with the whole maturity thing. like i kno this 20 year old guy.. he acts like a 10 year old. seriously, it doesn't matter if he's 25 or 60, he will still be the same. so i think it is a personal decision..

I myself am engaged and I am 16.
Both my Fiance and myself have decided to wait until we're 20 to get married. Then what's the rush to get engaged? We DO love each other. We just want to experience college life before we settle down. |

I want to get married in the mid twenties so I can enjoy married life without children first, and when we decide to have kids we'll still be young. ![]() Imagine having a kid @ 40. When your kid goes to college, you'll be 58. |

Whenever you're stable and able to support yourself. For me I don't think I'd get married till I'm 26 or older.

Wellll... My husband and I have been living as if we are married since we were both about 18. We didn't actually have the cash to get married until 20. But to us marriage is just a paper confirming to the gov. what we already know. We're committed to eachother regardless of what some paper says. Uh, anyway, thats a bit off on a tangent.. I think the age you get married at has to do with a few factors: [¤] Circumstances that force you to grow up before you have to. [¤] Age Mentality [¤] The ability to fend for and take care of yourself. [¤] Along with(if applicable) parental/guardian consent(Unless emancipated) There are probably a lot of other things that go into it, but you should also consider before marrying that people who get married at a young age usually end up divorced. So young couples have to work /extra/ hard to keep your marriage. But I suppose if you're under 15, marriage should be the last thing on your mind. Sorry, I sort of rambled, didn't I? =\ |

I think it's reasonable to get married when you're financially and emotionally stable. Talking about age though, I would prefer to get married when I'm like... 22 - 25

I got engaged at 17. But we dont plan on getting married, married untill after college so that would be like mid-twenties. ^ that sounds good. kudos to you. personally, i don't think anyone should get married until they've graduated from college, their careers are up and going, they're more than willing to spend their ENTIRE lives together (not until they don't wanna be with his/her spouse anymore), and many other things. marriage is a big deal. some people just don't take it as seriously as they should. |

I just think if you love someone and they love you back then they aren't going anywhere so that means there is no real rush. I just don't get why they feel the need to rush it

I think it's whenever you are ready for the commitment and the responsibility to be married. Also i don't know about you girls but I want both my parents and his parents to approve of marriage before we marry. If your 19 and responsible enough to get married, you've talked it over with each other and have your's and his parents permission then go ahead. I personally feel that you should be at least 20 to get married. If you want to wait 'till your out of college. if you think you could handle marriage and college then go ahead.

Getting married after college is always the best.
You got to have time to settle down and find jobs or else how are you can't support each other with no money? |

I think after college. If you love someone what's the rush to get married anyway? If you are so in love that person wont go any where..with or without a ring. Plus as you grow up sometimes you grow up together at different rates, or one person stays stagnant. I'm not the same person i was at 16 or 19.

I used to tell myself I'd wait till I finished college to even be engaged, but now that I'm in a relationship with someone... we're both already discussing being engaged after we graduate in June. We're both seniors. We'd wait to get married after we finished school though.
It's easy to say it's crazy to get married young when you're not in the position where you could be. |
