perfect time to make new friends
it will be the most carefree year of high school, but remember that everything you do in freshman year will also count for the rest of high school, so if you do decide to slack off... don't

Don't hang out with the wrong crowd.

That's a big one. Get involved early. Join clubs, sports, etc. This'll help you to meet new people and be well-rounded.

Just jump in a locker ahead of time. You'll be in there eventually.

Don't get lost. You'll look like a huge tool.

Don't walk slowly in the halls. The upperclassmen will yell, "f**king freshmen, MOVE!" and trample you.

Don't act like a slut. It's not cool.

Hm...That's all I can think of right now. Have a fun year. =]

The more you worry about it, the more you'll try to alter your personality to fit in. And if you do that, you'll just come off as trying too hard. So just DON'T worry about it. :)

My freshman year was one of the best years of high school for me because I just lived like I normally would. Treat everyone like an equal - not like you're better than them, and not like you're afraid of them.

So yeah, of course you're gonna be a little nervous about it, but once you get past your first couple of days you'll realize it's not a big deal at all. _smile.gif

I know it's super cliche and doesn't make very much sense - but just be yourself. And you know what? Like Suzzette said, come sophomore year you'll be like "God, I was SUCH a freshman." And honestly, be a freaking freshman. Just don't do something overly rash that will fudge it all up - which is something to be aware of at any point in time anyway. This is theeeee beginning. Don't expect yourself to be perfect but start well! The fun should start now, not senior year. (:

Haha. Yes, what Suzzette and KC said are so true.

I was such a freshman mellow.gif

Don't start crap when you're a freshie. High school is not fun when school is like the OC thumbsup.gif

hmmm, lets see.

Don't slack off with your work, because when promotion time comes around you don't want to be one of those ppl going to 'Summer School'.

Oh,
and walk fast. Upperclassmen have a tendency to push.

Just be yourself, and stay with your real friends. If you know what I mean. There is nothing worse than trying to act older than your age but you're not even part of the upperclassmen crowd. People are going to backstab you and all that crap, so watch out. High school= major change time for a lot of people. So yes, plenty of people will turn into b*tches. Get involved in stuff because it's really really important to have connections. Do your work because high school is what's gonna affect your college/career.

Branch out and try a bunch of new things that take you out of your comfort zone. Try out for a sport, join a club or two. Hang out with all kinds of people.

Oh, and always try to make good first impressions. Get to know your teachers. Even if they are boring or something, they can give you nice recommendations if you want to apply for a job.

Most of all: be yourself. FIND yourself.

stay focused...if you get on the right track academically, you'll maintain these good habits throughout your high school career...and once you graduate and get into a good college, you'll have all the time in the world to do all the stupid/crazy/funny/liberating things you wanted to do in high school...

Wow, no kidding. That seriously would suck. mellow.gif

Actually, if you could swing two weeks, maybe that'd make you popular because you'd look like a badass. wink.gif

Yeah scratch that, I clearly have no idea how high school works. xD

don't ask for directions from upperclassmen. hahahaha
at my old high school (we have one for 9-10 and 11-12), we have a stairwell that leads to nowhere. seriously. so many freshmen were dumb enough to ask the sophomores where whatever class was and they ended up in the pit.

my brother was such a dick to the freshmen when he was a sophomore. he sent them in all the time and refused to actually call them their names. i started out freshmen year with lotsss of sophomores that i wasn't already friends with were all "is that peter's sister? IS THAT PETER'S SISTER? let's go kick her!" i befriended them pretty quickly.

i never did get bullied anyway because i had lots of upperclassmen friends and i knew how the system worked anyway. lol. and then a couple of the sophomore dudes had crushes on me hehe.gif

even if you do end up with the upperclassmen having crushes on you, don't take advantage of it. don't flaunt it... because you will die. so many girls hated me (even some of my upperclassmen friends that were girls) for so long because i got with the one dude that every girl liked at some point in time.

Ugh....the freshman coming this year to my school...*shudder*

Just make the right friends, focus on school at least a little bit (ok, you might want to focus more than that, but we both know how it is...) and don't fall in with the wrong crowd. Everyone's right, thats a biggie.

high school, not college right?

well then, I'd say don't try too hard to be someone you aren't.
Don't expect the upperclassmen to like you

and like most people said get involved
it helps you make friends, and sticking with something throughout high school can be really beneficial.
