I only recently found out that Sprint/Nextel puts a tax on 911 calls. I don't know if that's common knowledge, but what's the most ridiculous payment a phone company has charged you with and why?

Sprint charged my family around $1K because they renewed our contract without telling us and then repeatedly assured us that our contracts have expired at that time. Then, when we switched to Verizon, they charged us for early cancellation.

Cingular made me cancel (and pay cancellation fees) and renew my contract, which made it no longer fall under my family plan, just so I could change my phone number. mellow.gif It wasn't worth it, but someone put my number on a website and I was getting called all the time by really sketchy people. stubborn.gif

Eh, seriously? stubborn.gif I have Sprint/Nextel. I've been trying to get my mom to switch to Cingular. They over billed us last month saying we went over our limit. We checked and it turns out they charged us for calling other Sprint/Nextel people when it should have been free. And they charge you every time you play games. It was only $5 to buy the game, but they charge you for internet use everytime you play it.

Only those collect calls from jail. mellow.gif

I wish that were a joke. Seriously, though, if they charged for 911 calls I'd probably end up in jail because I'd take care of the robber rather than call the cops.

That is ridiculous, taxing 911...

I got like a... $79 phone bill for roaming in Tampa, FL. When I was never in Tampa.
My dad was like "What is this?" and I was like "Dad, you know I've never been to Tampa!"
So he called them, and complained. _smile.gif

pft, that's pathetic. what if you're dying, call 911, end up going to the hospital, and your treatment bill costs thousands?!

Sprint is a piece of shit though. We've been customers for 9 years, and they've been continually pulling this crap on us.

Their customer service is as bad as Microsoft's too. And Sprint's CS isn't located in India like Microsoft's is, so there's no accent barrier.

Agreed. I used to have Sprint, and they are the worst f**king cellular company out there. I despise them with my entire being.

Now that I've switched to Cingular, I'm much happier. I realize that there are plenty out there who are discontent with Cingular (or should I say the new AT&T), but if they had Sprint... =_=

I've been overcharged more than hundreds by Sprint for reasons I do not even know of. f**k SPRINT.
