So I've recently become obsessed with daydreaming about painting the walls of my room and re-doing all of the furniture. Somewhere between the daydreams, I'll only have enough money to do the first part. And "enough money" roughly equals $75.

I've never painted a wall before. The most of I"ve ever done was a couple of strokes with the roll-y thingy on some wood, and my friend took it away from me in 2.6 seconds because I was "doing it all wrong!" (I didn't know how badly you could go wrong...I mean, don't you just roll it back and forth? oro.gif)

Getting back to the point, can anyone who has painted a room before tell me what to expect when go into Home Depot? What supplies am I going to have to buy? How long does it take for the paint to dry? And really important, will the $75 be enough to cover it? The room's not toooo big, just a regular ol' bedroom.

Aside from the technical paint stuff, does anyone have any color suggestions? _smile.gif

What theme are you doing your room?

Oh and i got paint rollers cause that makes the job so much easier And if you have some sort of trim in your room cover that with some painters tape.Cover your floors with either haefty bags or get the plastic stuff they have for when you paint your room.

As for the paint drying time. Its best if you paint when humidity is below 50 percent because humidity will make the paint take longer to dry.

Hmm, no real theme. I've bounced back and forth between so many ideas at this point I'm just really open to any suggestions. _smile.gif

At one point, my friend and I were going to the turn one wall in to something like this. XD.gif

^ That would be really cool if you could do that! But honestly, I don't think the 75 bucks would cover it. But I'm not sure how much the prices are. Okay, I've painted my sister's room before and here's what we needed:

-Blue tape (To prevent the paint on going on certain spots on the wall, if you want that.)
-Plastic covering (So the paint doesn't get on the floor.)
-Roller brush (The easier and faster way to get your paint across.)
-Paint brush (For the hard to reach areas.)
-Trays (To hold the paint in.)
-Paint buckets (To paint.)

I think thats about it, I'm not sure how much that all adds upto. When I check I'll edit this post. Hope I could help. _smile.gif

She pretty much covered it all, but make sure you don't do this yourself. It'll be much faster and easier if you get some friends to help.

Edit// Don't forget a ladder or roller-handle extender things.

One more thing: Don't forget to feed them. It takes a while to paint a room, days even. whistling.gif They could get restless.

When I started out, I was painting with my sister and her friend. With the exception of moving the furniture and setting things up, if you work non stop you could cover up a good amount of the wall. The room can be painted in like a day but you always have to think about getting the small areas and hard to reach ones. Which could take up to another day. Maybe we were just slow workers. shrug.gif

It won't take days. But make it easy for yourself. Don't move all the furniture out, move it to the centre of the room if you can. little things.

You also need to take into account that it may take more than on coat of paint before you're finished.
