When someone does something just plain dumb/stupid do you tend to lose respect for them?
This includes Friends and relatives Please feel free to explain what happened and what amount of respect was lost for the person. And the reason behind it. Be Honest! |

Hey Rico,
Why don't you explain the comment you left me the other day... who did you lose respect for and why? |

When people do stupid things over and over again, it kind of shows a side or piece of their personality. Because of that, I do tend to lose respect when I find that flaw.

If they do something so f**king stupid that it basically f**ks up their life just that bad, then yes. If it's something stupid, but reversible over time, not as much, because I'd eventually forget.

Nobody has ever done anything that bad to lose my respect except my dad but he didn't have my respect to begin with.

I don't respect people who don't respect themselves. I believe that if you want someone to respect you. You have to show them that you're worthy of their respect. Not by bending to everyone's each and every whim, but by show others that you won't let them disrespect you. Set boundaries that don't allow them to use you. Know when to say, "no", and when to say, "yes".
I don't respect who take the internet to seriously. It's not even that I disrespect them. It's that they feel like I'm disrespecting them. If they only had a sense of humor they could joke around with me and have fun. I also hate pedophiles and people who rape. Yeah, I know I joke around about it (you shouldn't make any subject taboo), but in all reality I f**king hate rapists. My mother was molested as a child, and so were a few other people that are close heart. Thank God I wasn't. If I saw anyone physically disrespect a child (even my own friends) I would probably try to kill them. Just thinking about this in a serious mode makes me feel tense. It makes my heart ache, and at the same time my blood boils with anger. |

Aaagh, especially pedophiles who've 'changed' and come open on national TV. You're still a pedophile, nothing will ever change that! |

No matter how hard I try. having fun and joking around about things like that is one thing, but nothing is funny about the reality of that subject. |

Only if the action is so stupid that it'll mess up their life or it ends up with a loss of trust between people. I can forgive little things because people make mistakes, but as other people have said, if it becomes a habit it becomes harder to forgive each time.
Sometimes it makes you look at that person differently too. |

if they keep doing that mistake after being confronted of it, yes.
Because then they know they're doing it purposely and not changing it because they're stubborn or "thats the way they are" for example, my uncle (who is younger than my father) and my father got into this big family argument/ drama shit. He say's that since he married my mother (who is younger than my uncle) should treat him more respect. And that is why MY FATHER should be asking my uncle to visit him or give his get well wishes after my father's surgery. it's like a stupid childish, immature argument and everyone knows that my uncle is just being a huge ass because, it doesn't make sense that someone should ASK for someone to come over and ask how my dad is doing. I definitely lost a lot of respect for him because he's being this little dumbf**k that won't even say "get well" face to face to someone in his family. Also there are a lot of my friends who did A LOT of stupid things while they drink or get high, I lose respect for them too but they are my friends and i love them so I can't say i hate them after they do some stupid mistakes. |

Over the past year I have been losing respect for my friend. She broke me and my boyfriend (now ex) up (we were dating for a month), and just laughs about it. She tells secrets, she just does everything wrong >_>

Unless it's something that srsly changes their life, then no. It has to be something really big to have a noticable dip in respect.
On the flip side, basically anything positive will raise my respect for them, big or small. |

It depends on the individual situation of course. But yeah, its happened to me. Found out a girl cheated on her boyfriend at least 4 times, and yet they're still together just because they have been together so long and are afraid of losing the relationship...yeah, that kinda changed my mind on some things about them. Not so drastically I hated them or anything, but yeah. It happens.
