Honestly, You people are really stubborn. You have nothing against religion, sexuality, race, but yet, you hate posers. Maybe being a poser is a new lifestyle. I hate people who hate bands just because they are posers. So what. They make music because they like to. Who gives a fudge if they are posers or not. You people are hypocrites. I expect a debate. Bring it you hypocritical bastards.

do u know that avril lavigne is one of the most successful examples of a manufactured artist? do u know she has like 10 movement choreographers telling her which arm to swing when she sings the chorus? she's got ppl telling her what to say, when to say it and how to say it. is that being herself?

and about this whole poser thing, what's the point in hating them? they're always gonna be there. maybe we should all just eliminate hate and set examples for these 'posers' by not hating them and judging them. may be then these 'posers' will realise that they might wanna find their own way too.

I hate the word poser.

If someone is trying to become someone they're not, how would you know? If I happen to enjoy wearing fob-ish clothes one day, and then decides to change my style to something more preppy-ish because I can afford it or I like the new style and how it looks on me, oh wow, I'm suddenly a poser!

I agree that you should always try to be true to yourself, trying to be someone you're not just means that you probably have lack confidence in your own style... it may even mean that you're weak minded.

But is being weak but happy because you enjoy your new style more, so bad of a thing?

I can't speak for everyone else on this thread, but to me a poser is one who conforms to the mainstream instead of being his/her true self... There's nothing wrong with doing what everyone else does as long as it's what YOU want to do; there's nothing wrong with dressing "preppy" one day and dressing a diff style the next - that's not even what I consider a "poser". As long as it's what YOU want to do, not because you feel the NEED to, it's all good.

I used to try real hard to fit in ... my definition of a poser is just that.

Somebody that tries to be something to fit in.

" And everyday when everyone wakes up in the morning and pulls their ass outta bed and they go into the bathroom, they look in the mirror and try to become something. They're like 'What do I wanna be?", you know? The f**kin' alternative kids, they wanna be alternative, so they put alternative clothes on. They become something they want to be percieved as. And the kids that wanna be gangsters or whatever, they put on their shit they wanna be percieved as.But some of us didn't know what the fudge we wanted to be percieved as.We didn't fit anywhere! We were the f**king clowns. It was like, no matter what happened, it was like "fudge them, you know? They don't count!" " - Violent J

It's all in the perception. I'm behind J 110% on that one, I mean, what the hell can you argue with in there?

The parts in red .. that's a juggalo. Or a juggalette. It's by no means a fan of Psycopathic. It's a person who's just themselves. They wear what they find in the morning, they don't work hard or go out of their way to paint an image because they don't know what they could possibly be besides who they are already.

And after years of trying to figure it out, I gave up. And I'm one hell of a lot happier now.

Hell, if you fit that category, you're a 'lo or 'lette, too.

i honestly dont understand what the commotion is all about. who gives if somebody is a "poser" and who isnt. i couldnt care less if somebody is not being true to themselves. it does not make them less of a good person as the next guy..let them go through it, 99% of the times its just a phase anyway, theyll grow out of it ermm.gif

How are we hypocrites? I have nothing against people who are considered "posers" so how does that make me or the others that don't have anything against them a hypocrite?

why does other people have to connect how a person dresses to the word "poseur"??

i remember the thread "asians wearing ambercrombie" that somebody posted "wear want you want" i concur to that statement because this is a free world indeed

i know some people who labels me as a "posuer" until now but i didn't care at all. take note, i never did bother them because they cannot tell who i am and i know myself better than them. and i dont consider myself as a "posuer" because i know that i have my own "individuality"

these people [i actually met them in another forum like createblog], however, who labels me who i think are amatuers. [they are in 11th-12th graders and college students here in philippines] they intend to hate other people who they think haven't got any individuality. well how about other people who have got no clue at all? totally stubborn indeed.

to be honest i was a poseur before. before i knew the word "poseur". i cannot exactly tell who the hell am i though i have said before i know myself better than the others because i am at the middle of knowing who really am i. after all i'm only 13 years old

what i dont get is, why does other people have to label other people instead of accepting them as who they are??

yeah yeah i know they are very irritating _dry.gif .. but they [the one who you are referring as "posuer"] wants to be in the crowd.. wait a minute.. well how about some people who are in the crowd?? aren't they the ones who ain't have any inividuality??? the people who'd do anything to impress their crowd, follow the trend and everything??

hell i dont care anymore [probably because of the word "posuer" and "label"] what i am into now is how to make myself and my friends happy hehe.gif and of course eating philippine bananas laugh.gif before i'd leave philippines

but i still don't see why people hate her for that. the label owns her and she can't do anything about it. i mean if that the only way to keep your fame and fortune.. then why not? who cares how you look like in other people's eyes.

i didn't read every single post because some were just too long. lol, but i think everyone's opinion is right.

but personally i dislike calling people posers unless its someone i know really well and is trying to change to fit in. because if you call other people, that you don't know, posers then you have no evidence to support it. because who knows? maybe they're changing to be themselves. maybe what's in and what's mainstream is them.

if you're trying not to be a "poser", and rebel against everything and try to be different then everyone else, then you're just becoming a bigger poser. being different isn't original or unique. think about it.

like few have said b4: be true to yourself.

a poser, in my opinion, is somone who does somthing to fit in, especially if they don't like it. alot of people i call "posers" are people who dress ghetto fabalis one day and the next day they feel hardcore so they dress in all black and stuff. don't be everyone, be yourself.

def....don't be someone cuz you think that is cool and you are not yourself..that's when you can be called a poser...........be who you wanna be no matter how many other people are like that and what they think about it......

but you are right it's not fair when people call someone a poser just because of the music they like or the music they listen too....... maybe if you let it get to y ou..you are a poser, because you don't have the confidence to stick up for what you are and maybe it really isn't who you are

The term "poser" annoys the hell out of me.

Ditto. It's just another term to label/discriminate/segregate a person from their peers.

What's so wrong with wanting to look good? I mean if I tried to dress like you don't care what people thought then I would go naked. And just because someone has their own personal style that you don't agree with doesn't make them "fake" I like wearing stuff that I find attractive to ME. I happen to like the styles that are out right now. Sorry I wanna impress people and not have them take one look and walk away. I don't care what people say. Apperance does cout.

labeling people suck. and if you call someone a "poser" when you really havent met the dude/dudett thats just wrong. but why are people stressing about posers? just forget them and worry about yourself. but just keep this in mind: your having more fun than the people who are pretending to be someone else, which is very annoying.
