Mundungus took the treasures from Kreacher and that was about the Slytherin locket. I can't really remember reading exactly how Aberforth received the mirror. I'm guessing it was Dumbledore.

As to who comes back as ghosts and who don't, I think that's discussed at the end of book 5 where Harry asks Nick how he was able to remain as a ghost. I looked at it just yesterday.

Edit: Whoops, didn't see this page. I think it was in limbo as well since Dumbledore told Harry it may have been happening in his head, but it doesn't necessarily mean it isn't real.

Dung probably was going through Sirius' house and found (among other shiny treasures) the mirror. He probably thought it was worth something and took it. Aberforth told Harry that he bought it from Dung and kept it because Dumbledore told him it was an enchanted mirror of Sirius' and that Harry had the second one.

I think, JK Rowling didn't want to explain to far into things especially with the overwhelming amount of info in this book but Dumbledore told Harry that he had a choice to either move on or return to Earth. Since Harry was a special case, he (his soul) was able to return to his body but anyone else's soul would return to Earth without its body, therefore, becoming ghosts.

What year like actual 19__A.D. does the book take place in?

I'm guessing that his 17th year takes place in 1997-1998. Why would J.K.R. write all the books in her past? =|

but who is Victoire?

When she started writing the series, it was a long time ago. And the 7th book is in 1997-1998.

It doesn't matter when the book takes place...

all I know is, today is "19 years later" and Harry Potter is happily at home with Ginny.

I really wish she didn't kill of Tonks, Remus, and Fred :sob: . I definitely cried for about 1/2 the book. I do like that Snape ended up "good" and it was interesting to learn more about the three (Snape, Lily, James) when they were younger. Honestly, James was pretty cruel to Snape.

Also, I would have liked to see Neville and Luna together in the end, both professors @ Hogwarts. In the 5th movie, the two actors had great chemistry as well as in the books.

I think Luna and DEAN end up together. :chokes:

EDIT-

Considering no one has commented on this, I think that I am going to post it so that you can all read it. It seriously goes with the book (whether JKR intended it to or not)

QUOTE
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away
into the next room.

I am I,
and you are you;
whatever we were to each other,
that, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name,
speak to me in the easy way
which you always used,
put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air
of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we shared together.
Let my name ever be
the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect,
without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all
that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you,
for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just around the corner.

All is well.

That poem describes a few situations in HP. Perhaps she found that as inspiration? It doesn't seem to be a mere coincidence to me but it's not a big deal.

Did we ever get a proper explanation of how Harry's wand was able to perform its own spell (the one with golden flames) during his first encounter with Voldemort? Ollivander didn't know and I don't remember if Dumbledore explained it.

I like how in every single one of the books (except, obviously, book 6) Dumbledore and Harry have a long talk, usually explaining things.
Yeah, it became a ritual of sorts. I was wondering if something like that was going to happen in this one. I'm relly glad it did!

QUOTE(ThomasC @ Jul 23 2007, 08:36 PM) *
I think it was touched upon that its the Wizard, not the wand. I'm going to re-read the "King's Cross" & "A Flaw In The Plan" chapters.
But he didn't didn't even know the spell (the incantation) and had never produced gold flames from his wand. He was able to break Lucius Malfoy's wand in two.

I know, which is why I wanted her to explain it in the book. Not like there's a book 8 to look forward to for more answers. :(

Oh, and about the Parseltongue analogy.. Parseltongue is a language so I suppose it can be learnt but Harry just knew it. He wasn't taught it. Spells are taught so it's not as if he would have been able to 'recall' it.

i just finished the book, oh i'm so sad, it's pathetic. no more harry potter. i feel all empty + hollow. lol, well i really liked the book. i was literally on the edge of my seat most of the time tongue.gif  and i teared up so many times. especially when dobby died, i was crying my eyes out cuz dobby is so sweet, being so faithful and loving to harry and everything...

anyways the epilogue was [so heartwarming] but kind of unexpected.
i mean it was so happy and everything. i really expected the ending to be a little more dark? and i also would have wanted to know what happened to everyone else =/

but i'm so glad that ron and hermione FINALLY got together!!! and harry and ginny of course. that was so incredibly sweet when ginny gave him a birthday kiss xD

and snape being "good." that came as a BIG shock for me, lol. but how he was in love with lily and everything...all i can say is WOW!

theres a lot of unexplained things though, still. i wish things would have been explained more thoroughly.

but anyways, overall, i loved the book =] can't wait for the movie to come out.

Would you want Luna Lovegood teaching your child? *alarm* I mean love her to death, and all, but she TOTALLY took over as editor of the quibbler, and had lots of sex and babies with Dean.

Oh, and James Potter was a complete and utter wanker. Other than fortunate breeding choices, there isn't much to redeem him. And yet I'm strangely drawn to him.

OHOHOH

I forgot. I LOVE AUNTIE MURIEL! 'Oh dear, is this the Muggle-born? Bad posture and skinny ankles!'
Also, Ginny's real name is Ginevra? Really?

Oh, and Michelle, is that poem like, in the dedication or something? Because in that case, the one in the British version was different... I really liked the dedication, as a side note... it was sweet.

Haha, I know, I was like "Who's Ginevra?" It took a minute to sink in. and Yeah, the British version is a bit different...its in Canada too so yeah.

Dumbledore couldn't really explain it. He knew that Harry and Voldemort were bounded by extraordinary magic. Also, the two of them are connected because Voldemort has Harry's blood in him and Harry has a bit of Voldemort's soul in him. Then, they sealed this connection by dueling each other with brother wands. So Harry's wand recognized that its owner had a bit of the person who it tried to duel. The wand recognized both Harry and Voldemort's souls and fired off.

I'm not sure if it was a proper explanation, but it was an educated guess by Dumbledore... and he is THE man. :P It was in the King's Cross chapter. I would suggest re-reading that chapter about 4 times you guys... very, very slowly.

No, it wasn't. It was simply a poem another HP fan remembered from a funeral he went to and thought it may have some connection to the last words of the book. ^_^

Oh, and JKR has said that she might write an encyclopedia about the whole magical world that should answer a ton of questions. :D :D

I forgot about Scrimgeour's death. I loathed him in HP6 but it was touching to know that he didn't give up Harry's whereabouts and tragic that he was killed for it.

^ Oh yeah! I forgot about his death too! I guess it was because of all the other deaths and the fact I didn't like him. I agree with you about the whole not giving up Harry's whereabouts thing. It made me think he was somewhat decent. tongue.gif

That would be so exciting. And yes, this is definitely a re-readable book to slowly catch all the things missed the first time through. I re-read the last 100-200 pages again already. tongue.gif

The epi. leaves me wondering; what are their respective jobs? I mean, how does one go from "the boy who lived" to a normal life? How is George coping without Fred, let alone the rest of the Weasley's? I want more about Teddy, and how old is Bill & Fleur's daughter (Teddy is 19)? etc etc

He wasn't at Hogwarts Express to go to Hogwarts, he was just there seeing off his godbrothers...right? That makes the most sense, anyways.
